September Tidbits #2
September 8, 2024
School Attendance Matters!
We had a tie this week. A big round of applause to our 2nd and 3rd grade Terrapin families. They both had a 95% attendance rate for the week!
We're grateful to all for your efforts to be here! Every day matters in the pursuit of knowledge.
You can check attendance records in HAC. If you notice any days that are unlawful (marked red), please send an email to smverhaagh@smcps.org, or submit the reason for the absence online through our school website.
Music Program Registration
All google registration forms for Band, Strings, and Chorus are due by Sept. 9 2024 by 4:00 PM.
Registration will close after this date and time.
Please contact Mr. Nazimek with any questions concerning the instrumental or chorus programs.
Helpful Resources
Schoology Parent Accounts
We encourage all parents to connect to your student's Schoology account. Use these instructions to create a new account. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact schoology@smcps.org.
SMCPS Cell Phone Policy
Though it isn't generally much of an issue at the elementary level, please be sure to familiarize yourself with the new SMPCS cell phone policy.
Student Accident Insurance

Signing Out Students
Sign outs from the office will end at 3:30 to allow staff to prepare for dismissal. Any sign outs after 3:30 will take place at 3:45 from the Media center with our regularly scheduled parent up. This ensures that all of our students are dismissed safely at the end of the day.
Acceptable Use Policy
SMCPS students use the Internet and other instructional computer resources in school. It is important that you and your student review the Acceptable Use Policy each year. The Resource & Tech Accountability Smore information and resources to help families manage their SMCPS tech. Also, please review this slide presentation with your student.
