Students are expected to attend the meetings with their parents.
No formal December exam period for Middle School: A regular class schedule will remain in place in December, with a dismissal at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 19. In-class assessments being held in December will be posted on mySelwyn, including cumulative math tests for both grades in the week of Dec 16-19. A formal exam period will take place in June for Grade 7&8 students with clear expectations and support provided throughout the spring term.
Congratulations to the Grade 8 students who participated in the MS Science Olympics held on Tuesday, November 19. Teams of SHS and ECS students had to find a way to drop an egg from Selwyn’s roof to the ground without breaking it. The teams showed skill and creativity in this endeavor! Many thanks to Ms. Corbie, Ms. MacNeil and ECS for their organization and participation, and to our intrepid Grade 8 scientists: Emirhan Balta, Justin Behr, Matej Blasch, Bernie Gao, Harry Garschagen, Amir Kinder, Vincent Landry,Adrian Steinberg, Leo Vainberg, Lucas Zhao.
Holiday Baskets: Continuing our annual tradition, Middle School and Grade 9 TAG groups will be making holiday baskets for individuals and families in Pointe-St-Charles. Each student has been asked to bring in 2-3 non-perishable food items and a cash donation in the amount of their choice. The cash collected will be used to purchase grocery store gift cards for each basket recipient. If you are available to deliver one or more holiday baskets in Pointe-St-Charles in the week of December 9-13th, please email Michelle Segal (segalm@selwyn.ca).
Community Engagement: Thank you to Middle School families for donating so much soup to Hadley Community! You have one week left to contribute new socks for Stepping Up, an organization that provides socks to those experiencing homelessness. If you can donate, please bring your donations and place them in front of Ms. Beech’s office. The house that collects the most socks will earn house points!
Uniform Alterations at the Argyle Shop! The seamstress will be back in the shop on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Click here for details and to reserve your spot!

Founder's Day 2024: The Selwyn House community is invited to attend the celebration of the 116th anniversary of the founding of the school on Thursday, November 28 in Coristine Hall. Reception starts at 6pm, presentations begin at 6:45pm. Click here for more information about the evening and to RSVP.
Morning Run for Movember on November 26: Join us Tuesday November 26 to help promote men's physical and mental health. We’ll meet by the Veritas sign at 7:15am, we will run approximately 5 km, ending with a hill run for those who can handle it, and we will return to school by about 7:50am. After the run, participants will receive 1 free breakfast item and be permitted to wear Selwyn athletic gear for the rest of the school day. You do not need to be a serious runner to join! You do not need to be growing a moustache to join! You must wear weather appropriate running gear, though. If you are interested, please sign up here. Email Dan Elbling (elblingd@selwyn.ca) if you have any questions.
Argyle Shop News: Please note that the Argyle Shop will be closed for all online and instore shopping from November 21-29 inclusively. Outside of those dates, purchases can be made online as usual and regular store hours remain for in-store shopping: Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30-11am and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2-4pm.
Holiday Marketplace at SHS December 5 from 8:30am-5pm: The PVA is collecting gently used items including toys, games, puzzles, holiday decorations, sports equipment and more, for resale to students and family members in a holiday market format. All the money raised will benefit Resilience Montreal, a non-profit day shelter. It's a great opportunity for parents to get involved! Sign up if you can contribute baked goods and/or volunteer for a shift. Items can be dropped off outside the Lucas Seminar room from now until Dec. 4th. The PVA is also hosting several "car trunk" drop offs where parents can put any items for donation directly into a car, including Thursday and Friday Nov. 21 and 22nd during parent-student-teacher conferences.
