Bryant Elementary, Proud home of the Panthers
From Mrs. Wilkins, School Principal
October
Bryant families,
What a joy it was to see you all during Parent Teacher Conferences. Thank you for your commitment to your child/children’s education. We value your partnership!
· Math WIN (What I Need) groups have kicked off building wide. Ask your child about subitizing and counting circles.
· The Bryant Alliance meeting has been shifted to this Wednesday due to school being out this Thursday and Friday. All are invited to join.
· September Paw winners got to eat pizza with me in the lunchroom. These students were selected because during the month of September they exemplified our Bryant Universals. “I am a Bryant Panther, I strive to be safe, be responsible, be respectful, be a learner, at home, at school, and in my community.”
Proud Bryant Panther,
Mrs. Wilkins
From Mrs. Ozburn~ School Counselor
Hello, Bryant Families! What a joy it has been getting to know your kiddos! I am absolutely LOVING being here at Bryant and learning more and more about the kids each day. I have been enjoying going into the classes and teaching Social Skills lessons. I am typically in every class every week. All classes have been learning about Emotion Management this past month. We have been identifying and normalizing our feelings / emotions. In the coming weeks, we will work on identifying and practicing coping skills for when those big emotions kick in.
We will focus on the importance of "calming down" when a big feeling consumes us. I will introduce students to a variety of "calm down tools" and we will spend time practicing our "calm down / belly breathing." I encourage you to incorporate these strategies at home, too. Below, I have included a couple of links on different breathing strategies to help students (and ALL of us! 🙂) calm down. It really is quite amazing how much better our bodies feel once we have dedicated some time to focus on our breathing - give it a shot!
A reminder that Angel Fund begins October 1 and runs through November 30. Students who qualify will be allowed to shop for up to $150 worth of school clothing at either T.J. Maxx, Old Navy, Target, or Walmart. Applications are available in the front office.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. You can reach me by phone at (406) 324-1195, or email cozburn@helenaschools.org. I will be around during Parent Teacher Conferences, so please feel free to stop by my office to introduce yourselves!
Respectfully,
Colette Ozburn, School Counselor
