From the Principal.... Matt Clark
Happy Fri-yay, TMS Families!
As we approach the end of the first semester, I wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible hard work, growth, and achievements we’ve seen across our school community. To celebrate we capped off our week with our annual holiday assembly. It’s a great opportunity for our students to celebrate friendships, memories, and the bright future ahead.
The energy in the gymnasium during the assembly was electric! The enthusiasm and school spirit displayed by our students were truly inspiring. During the assembly, we discussed with students the importance of creating an inclusive and joyful atmosphere by being kind, respectful, and responsible. Whether it’s cheering for a friend, sharing a smile, or simply lifting each other up, these small acts make a big impact.
The assembly was also the culmination of our school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors competition! Each participant represented their team with pride. A huge congratulations to Team 7-1 for their victory, which earned them a field trip lunch to Portillo's as a reward! It was a fantastic moment of celebration and camaraderie for the entire building.
I hope this celebration inspires pride in our Thompson community as we roll into a well-deserved winter break. Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to an exciting end to the semester!

Holiday Cards…
If you send a card to each person on your list, and then each person on that list sends a card to everyone else on the list, the total number of cards sent can be calculated using the formula for combinations: n(n-1)/2*, where "n" is the number of people on your list.
For example, if you have a list of 10 people, the number of cards sent would be: 10*(10-1)/2 = 45 cards. Use your own number and try to solve the equation.
Thank you for being a part of our educational team! Enjoy the holiday season with family and friends and let’s make 2025 the best year yet!
More information on Compass Academy
The traditional, comprehensive high school model isn’t the best fit for everyone. That’s why District 303 offers students another option: Compass Academy, a high school of choice with a flexible schedule that provides students with a small learning environment where they receive a personalized educational experience that challenges them and capitalizes on their interests and passions. With an intentional focus on cultivating positive relationships and building connections to the community and potential careers, the Compass Academy approach combines academic rigor, social-emotional learning, and experiential opportunities while fostering a culture of trust, curiosity, and pathway exploration. Students at Compass engage in projects in a competency-based model, removing the traditional constraints of "seat time" and empowering student-driven learning inside and outside the classroom. This approach allows students to earn credit toward graduation requirements in ways other than traditional coursework, incorporates real-world knowledge and challenges, and prepares students for any post-secondary path they choose with options to earn both early college credit and industry credentials.
If you are interested in learning more about Compass Academy, complete the Interested Student Form and someone from Compass will follow up with you soon to schedule a tour and answer any questions you might have. Space is limited, but there are still spots available for the 2025-26 school year, so if you are “Compass curious”, be sure to reach out soon!

Dear Future Saints Families,
We are thrilled to invite you to Freshman AP Night on January 15th at 5:45 p.m. in the Little Theater, a special event designed to introduce you to the exciting Advanced Placement (AP) opportunities available to your incoming freshman at St. Charles East High School.
Prior to the beginning of Future Saints Night, this session will provide valuable insights into:
- The differences between AP World History and AP Human Geography—two dynamic options for freshman social studies.
- The benefits of starting the AP journey early and how it prepares students for college and beyond.
- The prestigious AP Capstone Diploma program and how your student can earn this distinguished recognition.
Our team will also answer common questions about the AP Program and share how these courses help students build skills for success.
Don’t miss this opportunity to help your student make an informed decision and start their high school journey on the right track!
