Northeastern School District
Bobcat eNews - 2024-2025 Third Quarter
Welcome Spring!!
As we move into the 4th quarter of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in our schools. This is a crucial time for our students, as they focus on finishing the year strong, preparing for end-of-year assessments, and, for our seniors, gearing up for graduation scheduled for May 29th.
At our most recent Parent University session, we had an important discussion about Protecting Students Online and various social media pitfalls. We explored strategies to help parents guide their children in developing healthy online habits, recognizing potential risks, and making positive digital choices. It was a valuable conversation with parents, and I encourage you to join us for our final Parent University session on April 28.
As we approach the final months of school, I want to share a few key reminders to support your child’s success:
✅ Stay Focused – Encourage good study habits and time management, especially with final projects and assessments approaching.
✅ Check Progress – Review grades and assignments regularly to ensure students are on track for a strong finish.
✅ Celebrate Milestones – For our seniors, graduation is just around the corner! Be on the lookout for important announcements about graduation ceremonies, senior activities, and end-of-year events.
Finally, as a reminder about social media safety, here are a few key points to discuss at home:
✔️ Balance is key – Set boundaries for device use and encourage healthy screen time habits.
✔️ Think before posting – Remind students that their digital footprint lasts forever and consider the following... Will the social media post help or hurt a situation?
✔️ Kindness matters – Talk about the importance of respectful online interactions and recognizing cyberbullying.
✔️ Privacy and safety – Help them understand how to protect personal information and recognize potential online dangers.
At school, we remain committed to fostering responsible digital citizenship and academic excellence. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this final quarter successful for all students. Let’s finish the year strong!

We are excited to share some new partnerships that continue to expand the opportunities being made available to our students.
- A relationship is now in place with the Manufactures Association and the Independent Electrical Contractors.
- We now have an early enrollment agreement with Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. This opportunity allows students to enroll in Thaddeus Stevens during their senior year of high school under certain criterion.
- Honors Meteorology will be offered as part of the High School curriculum.
- We have officially established a 1.1 credit weight for each college in the high school course that students take as an opportunity to earn college credit.
- A new student club organization, The Northeastern Times, will begin at the high school allowing students to explore the field of journalism.
Help Us Build Storage Sheds for Creston, North Carolina!
Mr. Werning's new Construction class at Northeastern High School is taking on a meaningful project that will directly benefit those in need in Creston, North Carolina, an area that was devastated by hurricanes. Our students are constructing storage sheds to be sent down to Creston, where they are desperately needed to protect tools, feed, and other supplies from the elements.
If you are interested in contributing—whether through a monetary donation or by helping spread the word—we would be incredibly grateful.
Here’s how you can help:
-
Donate: Checks can be made out to Northeastern High School with "North Carolina Relief Effort/Sheds" in the memo line. Attention: Jonathan Werning.
-
Spread the Word: Let others know about this important cause and encourage them to get involved!
Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a big impact on the lives of those struggling in Creston.
Northeastern Selected for Exclusive Lego Education Science Pilot Program
We are excited to share that Northeastern School District was chosen by Lego Education to participate in their brand new science education pilot program. We are only one of three districts in the entire country chosen for this opportunity, and the only one in Pennsylvania.
In our district, three classes were selected to take part in this amazing opportunity. Mrs. Wolff's second-grade class at Conewago, Mrs. Miller's fourth-grade class at Spring Forge, and Mr. Koliscak's sixth-grade class at Shallow Brook were the lucky ones. These dedicated teachers underwent training to prepare for the project. Then the real fun began! The students in Mrs. Wolff's class eagerly dove into their new kits, filled with anticipation for their first lesson. They simply can't contain their excitement!
Northeastern School District was honored to welcome the President, Vice President, and key leadership from Lego Education, representing Denmark, the UK, and the United States. During their visit, they engaged with Mrs. Davis’s first-grade class at Conewago Elementary, participating in a Spike Essential Lego Lesson. Our students demonstrated their STEM skills by building and coding a Lego illumination prototype, simulating a paleontological expedition in alignment with their recent ELA unit.
Below are some pictures of the Lego Education Team along with Dr. Sica and Dr. Bottiglieri who joined the fun with Conewago students.

Student Artwork Exhibit at YCASE Art Walk
The NHS Art Department is proud to announce that two of its students, Sabrina Guillen and Nayeli Rivera, were among 180 total participants from the York County area in this year's YCASE Art Walk. Both students, who are in grade 11, had their work displayed at The Grotto Creative Space. The annual York Community Art Scholars Exhibition (YCASE) celebrated art produced by local high school students and provided young artists with the opportunity to contribute to York’s cultural offerings. During the Art Walk, each participating high school exhibited their students' work at galleries and shops throughout the Downtown York arts district. It was an exciting moment for the department, as this was the first year students had participated, and there is hope for even more involvement in the future.
NJAHS Souper Bowl
Northeastern Middle School's Chapter of the NJAHS hosted their 3rd annual Souperbowl February 27th. They raised $625 and donated $200 of it to the New Hope Ministries Food Truck that provides food to families in our district. NJAHS members made 45 ceramic bowls and created each bowl with a unique design. Families of the members and faculty of the NMS donated foods and soups to provide a wonderful meal to patrons who purchased tickets. Soup bowls were then taken home by each patron, commemorating this charitable event. Mrs. Lantz, the NJAHS mentor, would like to take the opportunity to thank her colleagues and the families that participated and helped make this event a smashing success.

NMS Newscasters Visit WPMT Fox 43
On March 10, 2025, the Middle School Newscasters Team had an exciting opportunity to visit Fox 43 and learn about the world of journalism. During their visit, Todd Sadowski, a staff member at the station, guided the students through the bustling newsroom, explaining the various roles that contribute to creating news broadcasts. The students were able to see firsthand how news stories are developed, filmed, and edited before they reach the audience. This experience not only broadened their understanding of media but also inspired them to think critically about the information they consume every day. A big thank you to Todd Sadowski and Fox 43 for making this educational visit possible!
Shallow Brook 4th Graders Explore Government and History on State Capitol Field Trip
The 4th-grade students of Shallow Brook recently embarked on an exciting field trip to the State Capitol, where they explored the workings of local government and learned about the legislative process. Conewago Author Visit
On March 12th, the talented author Noah Gallo had the pleasure of meeting with the enthusiastic second grade students of Conewago. Noah captivated the young minds with his recently published book, ""It's Too Early, Rooster!"" He shared the inspiration behind his book and the creative process he undertook to bring it to life. The students were amazed to learn that Noah, a mere Cedar Cliff High School senior, had already achieved the impressive feat of becoming a published author! Adding to the excitement, Noah's sister, Chloe, who is only a sophomore in high school, beautifully illustrated the book.
What's more, the book is not just in English, but also in Spanish, making it even more engaging and inclusive. The students were thrilled to hear about these fun facts and were inspired by Noah's passion for writing and his incredible talents. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Noah for sharing his love of writing and creativity with us!

The lessons, led by a musician, incorporate music and come with lesson plans and project materials.
TRACKS Experiences at Mt. Wolf
When students collect TRACKS cards throughout the year, they can redeem them for different rewards for their effort. The Mt. Wolf PBIS committee has been working on adding in TRACKS rewards for our students that are focused on experiences here at school. Some of more popular experiences include doing afternoon announcements with Mrs. Laughman, helping Miss Wendy in the cafeteria, and helping Mr. Eric with his custodial duties. These are chances for the kids to connect with different people in the building, help out, and have fun in the process!

Honor Bus Needs Your Help!
Times are tough, financially. With the rising cost of transportation, we’re in danger of not having enough funds to sponsor our spring trip!
Honor Bus is “a day of gratitude and thanks.” Each year in the spring and fall, Honor Bus hosts veterans of all eras and active-duty military on a trip to Washington DC. Each veteran and soldier are treated to breakfast, lunch, and a catered banquet upon returning from Washington DC, where we visit these most deserving veterans' respective memorials (WW II, Korean, and Vietnam). While in Washington, we also visit Arlington National Cemetery to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
While the district allows us to host our event on campus, we do not receive financial support from the district, and no taxpayer dollars are used for the Honor Bus. This trip is completely funded by generous donations from individuals, businesses, and local veterans groups. Monetary support is greatly appreciated and will be used to provide a memorable and meaningful tribute and trip for our esteemed guests.
You can now donate online using the link below or by making a check payable to Northeastern High School with Honor Bus in the memo line.
