A combined newsletter
Hello Spartans,
We have made it to Easter Break. Although this year, it is a different type of relief. Since we will technically be on break for the rest of this week and next week, I will be sending out one newsletter per week, rather than a teacher-specific newsletter on Tuesday and a student newsletter on Thursday.
Next week's newsletter will be posted on April 16th.
The student newsletter during this time has contained a recipe and baking tips.
Today, I feel like Chocolate Chip Cake. It is an easy cake with a cinnamon and sugar layer and topping.
Chocolate Chip Cake
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick of butter
2 cups flour
8oz. Sour cream
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350
Cream butter and sugar, add the eggs
Add flour, sour cream, vanilla, baking soda, baking powder. Mix until creamy.
Cinnamon mixture
1/2 cup sugar
1teaspoon cinnamon
Pour half the batter into a greased 13x9 cake pan.
Sprinkle 1/2 the sugar/cinnamon mixture and 1 cup of chocolate chips. Press it into the cake batter.
Pour the rest of the batter in and sprinkle the rest chocolate chips and cinnamon/sugar mix.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
This is a very easy cake. It is not too sweet and would make a nice coffee cake for a mid-morning snack.
BOOKS
Sherwood
Let's talk about why it is okay to walk away from a book. I will probably come back to this book at some point. For whatever reason, I am just not in the mood for this story right now.
That is okay. When you are selecting books to read for pleasure it is okay to start, stop, change your mind, move on, or come back later. Sometimes I get mad or upset with a character and walk away for a while. So, for now, I am not going to be reading this story. I have enjoyed her other books so I think that it just not what I need right now.
What I am listening to
Vincent is a bartender at the Hotel Caiette, a five-star glass and cedar palace on an island in British Columbia. Jonathan Alkaitis works in finance and owns the hotel. When he passes Vincent his card with a tip, it's the beginning of their life together. That same day, Vincent's half-brother, Paul, scrawls a note on the windowed wall of the hotel: "Why don't you swallow broken glass." Leon Prevant, a shipping executive for a company called Neptune-Avramidis, sees the note from the hotel bar and is shaken to his core. Thirteen years later Vincent mysteriously disappears from the deck of a Neptune-Avramidis ship. Weaving together the lives of these characters, The Glass Hotel moves between the ship, the skyscrapers of Manhattan, and the wilderness of northern Vancouver Island, painting a breathtaking picture of greed and guilt, fantasy and delusion, art and the ghosts of our pasts.

My Current Read
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he’s still in good health. A big celebration is in the works for his 100th birthday, but Allan really isn’t interested (and he’d like a bit more control over his alcohol consumption), so he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey. It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: he has not only witnessed some of the most important events of the 20th century, but actually played a key role in them. Quirky and utterly unique, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared has charmed readers across the world.

I created three google slide planners for you to use. Just go to the library topics page and find the board for google templates.
1. Weekly planner
2. Subject planner
3. A-day planner (this includes the times for classes)
Each planner has a slide or a place for you to list your teacher contact, and other information. (zoom codes, textbook codes, or website logins). Copy the google slides to your drive and customize it. I hope that this can help you stay on top of your work.
