A few words from Mr. Jelks...
The LIS PAC would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and volunteered for the Fun Fair. This successful event raised vital funds to support student programs and activities at Ladysmith Intermediate.
As Indigenous Peoples Month approaches, we are excited to learn, share and celebrate Indigenous Peoples month for June and end with a celebration full of singing and dancing at Transfer beach. Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada is an occasion to recognize and celebrate the diverse cultures, heritage, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. This month provides an opportunity for all Canadians to learn more about Indigenous history and to honor the rich cultural traditions of Indigenous communities.
Additionally, as we celebrate Pride Month, we are reminded of the importance of diversity and inclusion. At Ladysmith Intermediate, we cherish and celebrate our differences, recognizing that they make our community stronger.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us create a vibrant and inclusive environment for all our students.

LIS presents its 2nd annual AIR BAND!
On Monday, June 24th, for one afternoon show and one evening show, we are having a choreographed lip sync challenge of epic proportions! Interested students started signing up their air bands today. They will then create their performances on their own time. Mr. M will also have his classroom open during most long recesses for anyone who needs help or rehearsal space. Auditions start on June 5th.
See Mr. M's drama website at https://pitchblackdrama.weebly.com/air-band.html for info, rules/guidelines, videos on vocalist and guitarist moves & the official song playlist!
Ticket order forms will be sent home and also available on Mr. M's website in early June.

Attendance
We ask parents/guardians to call the school before 9:00 am at (250) 245-3351 or email Info.LI@sd68.bc.ca to notify the school of your child’s absence. Please follow up with a note to your child’s teacher when your child returns to school so the teacher can address any missed work, homework issues, etc. Also a reminder that if students need to leave early, they should be signed out in the main office.
School Closure
The following is a reminder about the NLPS school closure procedure for students.
If schools are closed due to snow, or any other weather-related problems, announcements will be made on local radio stations (WOLF 106.9 FM, WAVE 102.3 FM, and 91.7 COAST FM) by 7 a.m., or earlier, on the day of the closure. Please do not call the radio station – tune in and listen for the announcements, which will be made on a regular basis.
In addition, the district will post the information on the district’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and mobile app. Families may also receive a message through the School Messenger notification system via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind, however, that there may be situations where this is not always possible, for example, power outages or technical problems. The most reliable method is to listen to the local radio stations.
