Louis Riel Day, November 16th
Louis Riel - Metis Leader
Louis Riel Day is held every year on November 16 across the MΓ©tis homeland. November 16 is the anniversary of Rielβs execution in 1885. During that year, Riel led MΓ©tis people in the Northwest Resistance, which was a stand against the Government of Canada because it was encroaching on Metis rights and our way-of-life. The MΓ©tis were defeated at the siege of Batoche and the Canadian government captured Riel. He was eventually put on trial where he was convicted of treason and executed. As a result, MΓ©tis people across Canada were labeled as traitors and for generations many felt the need to hide their MΓ©tis culture and heritage. Despite this oppression, many MΓ©tis people found a way to preserve their way-of-life and passed it on to current generations.

Playground Upgrades - Exciting News!
https://kprdsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/4/100/false/true?school=575&initiative=3
Our school is in need of some Playground upgrades! We would love to replace the pea gravel in the Kindergarten Yard with safer EWF (engineered wood fibre), and also add a Funnel Ball hoop to our Primary Yard. We would also love to re-paint the designs on our pavement areas. School Council is supporting us with this initiative. We have added a Link to SCO (school cash online) whereby families, community members, and staff, can make donations to this great cause! Above, is a link which will be open all year round.
When you donate through this link, you will automatically receive a Tax Receipt as itβs a charitable donation.
Donors do not have to have a School Cash Online Account with the new Credit Card Online Payment Option β you can log in as a guest.
Donations received through this link will be held at the Board Office in a Beatrice Strong Charitable Donation G/L 86-916-1-105-965. We appreciate any donations! Thank you!
Parent/Guardian Updates
If you have a change in dismissal routine for your child, at the end of the school day, it is very important to call the office first! We will then communicate this change to the classroom teacher. Thank you!
Also, please try to avoid buzzing the office and picking up your child(ren) between 3:15 - 3:30 each day. This is our busiest and most hectic time of day with busses being loaded and organizing students for Kiss and Ride. Thank you for your consideration.

As you may have already heard, new provincial government legislation has resulted in changes to the use of personal mobile devices in schools (laptop, cellphone, tablet or smart watch).
