Beatrice Strong PS
February 3rd, 2025
Each year, Black History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Black communities in Canada, listen to their stories, and learn more about their history and contributions to Canadian society. Last February, 2024, the Municipality proclaimed February to be Black History Month in Port Hope, and our Grade 5/6 classes attended Town Hall to witness this occasion. At Beatrice Strong, we have raised our Pan-African Flag for the month of February to symbolize our commitment to honoring Black history and heritage.
To launch Black History Month, Neskens Jr Dorcelus will be back at Beatrice Strong this coming Wednesday, February 5th to deliver his keynote presentation: "Redefining Black History: Strength, Innovation, and the Power of Diversity."
This keynote focuses on:
Β· Addressing the Misconceptions of Black History
Β· Embracing the Benefits of Diversity
Β· Discovering the Rich History of Resilience & Applying It Today

Playground Upgrades ...
https://kprdsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/4/100/false/true?school=575&initiative=3
Our school is in need of some Playground upgrades! We would love to replace the pea gravel in the Kindergarten Yard with safer EWF (engineered wood fibre), and also add a Funnel Ball hoop to our Primary Yard. We would also love to re-paint the designs on our pavement areas. School Council is supporting us with this initiative. We have added a Link to SCO (school cash online) whereby families, community members, and staff, can make donations to this great cause! Above, is a link which will be open all year round.
When you donate through this link, you will automatically receive a Tax Receipt as itβs a charitable donation.
Donors do not have to have a School Cash Online Account with the new Credit Card Online Payment Option β you can log in as a guest.
Donations received through this link will be held at the Board Office in a Beatrice Strong Charitable Donation G/L 86-916-1-105-965. We appreciate any donations! Thank you!
Parent/Guardian Updates
If you have a change in dismissal routine for your child, at the end of the school day, it is very important to call the office first! We will then communicate this change to the classroom teacher. Thank you!
Also, please try to avoid buzzing the office and picking up your child(ren) between 3:15 - 3:30 each day. This is our busiest and most hectic time of day with busses being loaded and organizing students for Kiss and Ride. Thank you for your consideration.
