BHMS Cold Weather Policy
With the cooler temperatures arriving, we want to make sure that everyone is aware of our cold weather policy. Student drop off is between 8:30-8:40 a.m. (9:30-9:40 on Wednesdays). Our students will be outdoors until the bell rings every day, unless it is extremely cold or there is significant precipitation. We also go outside after lunch. Please make sure your student is dressing appropriately for the season! Students should not arrive on campus prior to 8:30 (9:30 on Wednesdays) as there is no supervision before this time.
Trip Tracker
Trip Tracker encourages and rewards students and staff for using alternatives to single family car transportation to BVSD schools. The program goal is to significantly reduce car traffic and associated air pollution in front of schools thereby enhancing student safety and health.
Participants are rewarded monthly for walking, biking, carpooling and riding either the school bus or RTD. Students and staff receive Trip Tracker dollars that can be used like cash at dozens of local businesses, donated to your school, or donated to local non-profit organizations. 8th Grade Baby Pics for Yearbook
Dear BHMS Community,
My name is Dr. Michael Sparks, and I help our students craft the annual yearbook. Each year, 8th grade parents can submit a baby photo of their 8th grade student to the yearbook to be published. The fee is $20 and can be submitted to either Mrs. Tice in the front office or to myself (if the students see me in the hallway). Cash or check is accepted; checks should be made out to Broomfield Heights Middle School. To submit the baby picture, please send it to the following email address: bhmsbabypics25@gmail.com
Only digital copies of baby photos will be accepted so please do not bring a physical copy to the school. You will receive a confirmation email from myself once we have secured and checked the photo. If you have submitted your photo and have not heard back from me in a week's time, please feel free to reach out to me directly at michael.sparks@Bvsd.org.
The last day to send a picture that will be accepted is 12/20 (last day of the first semester).
Regards,
Dr. Michael Sparks
Counseling Corner - Gratefulness - The Benefits of Gratitude
As part of the “stress management plan” that students created last month, we introduced the idea that practicing gratitude can help you manage your stress levels. When we focus on things we’re grateful for, it helps us feel happier, strengthens our relationships, and builds resilience. Gratitude can also improve mental health by reducing stress and boosting positivity, which is especially helpful during challenging times. Families can easily make gratitude a part of their daily routine in fun and meaningful ways. For example, you might try a "gratitude jar," where each family member writes something they're thankful for on a slip of paper each day and adds it to the jar; reading them out together once a week can be a heartwarming activity. Another idea is a "gratitude walk," where you take a stroll as a family and share things you appreciate about your surroundings or each other. Finally, a gratitude journal can be a simple yet powerful habit—each person writes down three things they’re grateful for before bedtime.

Class Fees have been entered into IC for school year 2024-2025
Parents, the classroom fees for the 2024-25 school year have been entered into your students’ Infinite Campus accounts. BVSD has revamped their fee structure to simplify it this year. We encourage you to apply for the Free & Reduced Lunch program (even though breakfast and lunches are free this year) because if you qualify your classroom fees and the IT fee for your student’s chromebook will be waived. You must send the program approval email that you receive to lisa.tice@bvsd.org. Please apply, even if you think you may not qualify for it. You never know!
Attention Families of Students NEW to BVSD This Year
If your child is a NEW student to BVSD (coming from out of district) this year, please see this parent letter from BVSD 1:web regarding the way fees are assigned to out of district students. If you have questions or concerns about these fees, you can contact Lucy Simpson.
BHMS Fundraiser Update!
We are thrilled to share that thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have surpassed our October fundraising goal of $4,000. Our current total now stands at an impressive $6,422!
We are grateful for the support of each and every family. A contribution of just $40 from each family will bring us closer to our ultimate goal of $20,000. This funding will provide new books, supplies for robotics and design tech classes, PBIS rewards for our student store and much more.
Let's join forces and make this happen! Every contribution, no matter the size, counts towards our shared success. We are truly thankful for your continued support and look forward to celebrating our progress together.

Water flavor packets
Cases of plain water
Halloween candy: If you have extra candy from your trick-or-treaters at your house, you want to get rid of your kid’s candy, or you see a great deal on candy at the store, we will take it all!!
Donations can be sent to the school and addressed to the School Store or Mrs. Sparks (O’Hayre)
Thank you to the Whitlock family (Tennyson Pediatric Dentistry) and all of our BHMS families for supporting our students who exhibit our core values!!
