The Book Fair Time!
Open to students Mon., Nov. 16th through Thurs., Nov. 19th.
Online Fair open to all Nov. 11th - Nov. 24th
The book fair is one of our most anticipated events each year. Kids love to choose and bring home a new book for their very own! Due to COVID-19 precautions, on-site fair shopping is limited to students and staff this year, but there are other options for shopping.
Anyone may shop online now through Nov. 24th to support the school library, OR
Use the book fair flyers (Elementary, K-8) and this order form to have items pulled and sent home from our on-site fair until Nov. 18th. Free tote with purchase of $15 or more (while supplies last).
Either way, you can still get great books and help raise money for our school library!
Teacher wish lists will be available starting Monday the 16th. You may have your student purchase and deliver OR include in your order form for Mrs. Hattaway to deliver.
For students, we recommend creating an e-wallet on Scholastic's website for a great cashless option. Please limit the amount of coins sent to school to $5 or less at a time.
Questions: Contact Mrs. Hattaway - media@steugeneschool.org
Thank you for supporting literacy and our library!
In Case You Missed It - School News on Repeat
Lunch Duty Volunteers Needed! We need volunteers to help with lunch duty every Friday from 11am-1pm. One volunteer per Friday. Duties are simple and include passing out boxed hot lunches, monitoring students at their seats, and cleaning tables after the three lunch periods. Safe Environment required and must pass health screening each day before entering the school building. Sign up for a day or several days here. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a084aadac2da1fd0-friday Thank you!
Calling all technology minded individuals! We would like to form a 2-3 person team of volunteers to help maintain technology around the school. IT service calls can take a huge bite out of our budget, so we are looking for people who have experience with maintaining networks and general troubleshooting (desktops, Chromebooks, printers, smart devices, etc). Ideally each volunteer would be able to make a 2-3 year commitment, and would help find their replacement before rolling off the tech team. An example of some of the tasks we need help with include updating desktops to Windows 10, making sure computers are connected to network printers, checking that security updates are completed regularly, setting up new equipment as needed, helping remove broken/outdated tech from inventory, salvaging usable components, etc. Please contact Mrs. Goldsworthy and reference Tech Team in your subject heading.
Looking for a Volunteer Musician! We would love to have music in the church again! We are looking for a volunteer or two to play the piano or guitar for either or both school masses each week. If you or your student is willing to play some of the liturgical music, please let Mrs. Goldsworthy know. principal@steugeneschool.org

New Eat & Earn! Chipotle! Stop by Chipotle on N. Penn from 5-9pm on Wednesday, Nov. 18th for a tasty dinner! Mention St. Eugene when you order so a portion of the sale comes back to the school.
Save Your Cooking Energy for Turkey Day. Eat at Johnnie’s on Wednesday the 25th! Fundraiser good at the Britton and May locations all day. Mention St. Eugene when you order so a portion of the sale comes back to the school.
PTO wants your best recipes! The community of St Eugene Church and School put out a cookbook almost 15 years ago. With more people than ever staying home and cooking, it's the perfect year to make another one! We need your help though to make it the most tasty one yet! Please submit as many of your favorite recipes as you would like to https://createmycookbook.com/groups/PASKkeqmg. We are hoping to make this our most delicious cookbook ever! Copies will be available in time to give as holiday gifts! Recipes don't have to be original or handed down. If you have added your own special twist, that's what we are looking for!
CSSE Family Feature!
Why did you choose The Catholic School of St. Eugene? We like to think God called us here ;) I [Angie] received a teaching position as the MS Science Teacher after our previous parish school closed in Guthrie. After touring the school, I just knew it was going to be a perfect fit for our family.
What is your favorite thing about The Catholic School of St. Eugene? We can't just pick one! Ollie loves the library, Henry loves the cool playground, and Sam loves music class! They love the school lunches and how nice everyone is. We have all enjoyed the warm welcome into the parish and school community.
Is there anything else about your family you would like to share? We live in the country in Guthrie and have enjoyed "meeting" everyone in the Eagle Express. We have a Maltipoo named Teddy and a new English Mastiff puppy named Bucky. We enjoy camping, hiking, and have visited every State Park in Oklahoma. We are slowly working our way through the US National Parks. Our two eldest are also new Cub Scouts. We look forward to meeting everyone in person someday!
We would like to feature a school family in every issue as a way for our community to get to know each other, even though we are practicing social distancing. If you would like to introduce your family to the rest of our community, please fill out this form and submit a family photo!
Eagle Excellence
Congrats to 6th grade girls Gabby Kunnath, Sophia Pham, Maggie Lo Porto, Kiona Wadmia, Sarah Elder, Rylei McMahill, Charlcie Lawson, Ellie Stayton, Janet Chastain and Alaina Schoppa! They earned a 2nd place finish in their 2020 YMCA Fall Volleyball tournament this past weekend!
Congratulations go out to our MS Science Teacher, Dr. Angie Thomas! She was recently elected as Middle School Division Director for the 2021 Oklahoma Science Teaching Association board!
Dr. Thomas's goals for her term: With the state teacher shortage and influx of alternatively certified science teachers (such as myself), I want to provide a community of mutual understandings and share our diversified experiences with the goal of becoming more informed and invigorated science teachers for our students. To be blunt, our teachers need real educational experiences that can be transferred into the classroom. I think a lot of the processes need to be streamlined for easier accessibility and more focus will need to be given to a digitalized environment, especially during this pandemic.
My inspiration: I am also a Catholic school teacher and have often felt left out (funding, educational camps and trainings, etc) and want to reach out to parochial school teachers. There are several misconceptions when it comes to parochial school teachers. We are not rich, private schools. Catholic teachers make $10k-$30k LESS than a public school teacher and can not rely on state funding or financial help for our curriculum or classroom from our churches. I want parochial teachers to feel like they can receive the same resources and trainings as their public-school peers.
Hoping to be a voice for all the underdogs. It’s going to be a great 2021! (Yes, I will still be at St Eugene’s!)
Let us know about your CSSE achievements so we can celebrate Eagle Excellence!

Please Pray For...
Please pray for the soul of Roxanne Beauprez, aunt of Ashlei McMahill. She passed away last week. Vic Luong. | Pray for all those who have been affected by Covid-19, whether by sickness, loss of job, isolation, or loneliness, etc. May all find strength, comfort and healing in this difficult time. | Pray for our staff who have been putting in many extra hours to prepare for the upcoming school year. Please pray for students and their families. May God grant us all patience and wisdom as we navigate a very different school year. Help us put our faith first and give grace to all.
If you would like to include something in the Prayer Requests section, please contact Kim Hattaway at media@steugeneschool.org.
COVID-19 Response and Procedures
My Child is Ill. What Do I Do? Allergies or COVID? Stomach bug or COVID? It can be hard to decipher what ailment might be affecting your child. We have created some graphics and flowcharts to help you navigate what steps to take when your child or someone in your household is feeling unwell. Please report concerns or questions about illness to Mrs. Goldsworthy at illness-report@steugeneschool.org, and she will consult with our response team - Mrs. O'Connell and Mrs. Rischard. ALWAYS fill out and submit the Absentee Form (or call Ms. Patrick in the office), then notify your child’s homeroom/house teacher each day of absence.
Absences Please use the Absentee Form to report absences AND email your child’s teacher/house homeroom. It is important to communicate why your child is missing school with the teacher and document through the Google form. Please be meticulous in following directions if a child, household member, or close contact has recently tested positive for COVID or is awaiting results of a COVID test. NO ONE IN THE HOUSEHOLD MAY ENTER THE SCHOOL BUILDING if COVID exposure is positive OR in question. Mrs. Goldsworthy MUST clear your household for return to school in all cases where the possibility of COVID is involved. Please use illness-report@steugeneschool.org for correspondence regarding illness updates to Mrs. Goldsworthy.
Screening Questions and Carpool Please remember to have your questions answered DAILY and results ready to show on your phone. Students should be masked, on the passenger side for temp checks, and ready to go as soon as carpool teacher opens the door. bit.ly/FamilyDailyQs
