Everyday, Every Hour, Every Scholar
Mission
We develop the unique intellect, talents, and character of each student in our community, dedicated to develop academic excellence, personal responsibility, and service to others.
Vision
Our vision is to empower students to acquire, and articulate knowledge and skills that will support them in contributing to the global world.
Attendance Counts Every Day!
We don’t want May to end without letting you all know how much we appreciate your hard work. Your compassion, perseverance and dedication to ensure that your scholar is in school everyday! Classes who have the highest daily average attendance wins a tasty popcorn party!
Greetings Golightly Families
It is nearing the end of the schoolyear, grades are being calculated and summer plans are just beginning and attendance still counts. It is important that every scholar reports to school daily to finish the year strong!
As your child moves from one grade to the next, there are some very important things you can do to help them succeed.
- Engage in meaningful conversations with your child everyday. Take time (if only a few minutes a day) to really listen to what they have to say.
- Read to and listen to your child read. Ask questions, make predictions, make life to text connections as you read.
- Practice those multiplication/division facts as a way to really be ready for math. Help your child develop a sense of working and solving problems independently.
- Talk about ways and start practicing getting and staying organized.
- Encourage your child to write often! Writing stories, letters, journal entries, etc. are great ways to get thoughts organized and put onto paper.
These little things will lead to big successes next year!
Summer School is available for ALL Golightly Scholars. Sign up before May 24th!
End of Year Assessments
An amazing 91% of our scholars have successfully completed the end-of-year Reading i-Ready assessment for K-8th grades. We're so close to our goal of 95%! We need our scholars to arrive so that we can reach our target together.
This week, we are gearing up to start the end-of-year Math iReady assessment. Ensuring that your child arrives daily will set us up for success and help us achieve our goals.
Grades
Please check you scholars PowerSchool account to monitor their grades. Retention notices will be going home on Friday May 24th, with an opportunity date to meet with concerned parents. Summer school will be available for K-7th grade scholars this summer. Summer school begins June 24th and ends July 26th.
Culture & Climate
Lunchroom/Recess
It's imperative that we continue to have conversations with our scholars about lunchroom and recess expectations. Please remind them that screaming, sharing food, and rough playing are not allowed during lunch and on the playground. Your guidance helps create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Having conversations with your scholars before bringing them to
school will help to reinforce that we are all on the same page during lunch and recess.
Emergency Drills
We have 2 fire drills that will take place on May 20th and May 28th. This is the last of the 10 drill requirements from the state.
May Character Trait
The character trait for the month of May is "Cooperation." an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit; joint action. Please discuss our character trait with your child
