October Count Day
Tuesday, October 1st is the State of Colorado’s Official Pupil Count Day! The amount of money our school gets from the State of Colorado is based on how many students we have on our official “Pupil Count Day.” Please avoid scheduling vacation or medical/dental appointments on this day. If your child will be absent for all or part of the day, please contact our Attendance Office at 720-561-8402 or email: lisa.seelig@bvsd.org.
However, we do understand that absences can sometimes be unavoidable. Attendance can still be captured when your students return to school.
Thank you for helping us to ensure the greatest possible resources for your child.
Important Announcement: Virtual and In-Person Conferences

BHMS Reach for the Heights Fundraiser
We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received in our mission to achieve our goal! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have already raised an amazing $1,877 in donations. We only have $2,123 left to reach our target and host our very first School Social of the 2024-2025 school year!
With just $40 from each family, we can move closer to our ultimate goal of $20,000, which will directly benefit all students' education. Let’s unite and make this happen! Every contribution truly makes a difference, and we appreciate each and every one of you!

Battle of the Books (BOB)
The 24-25 Battle of the Books list was released early this year! Visit the BVSD BOB website to read more about the program and see the books on Middle School lists.
Students need to find teams of 4-5 people, as well as a sponsor, for their team. Teams MUST be registered with Mrs. Rule (jolene.rule@bvsd.org) by October 18th.
The reading list is available on the BVSD website if students would like to get a head start on reading! Mx. Brandin has pulled these titles in the library, Mrs. Rule has purchased all the books, and most titles will also be available as ebooks and audiobooks in Sora in October.
Parents, if you would like to sponsor a team, you will need to ensure that you are following the volunteer process on the BVSD Website. Please contact Mrs. Rule if you have further questions.

Additionally, RTD will be making its fall service adjustments on September 29th. RTD also made some timing adjustments to better serve Louisville Middle School and Manhattan Middle School.
Counseling Corner - First “Counseling Cafe” of the Year
At least once a month, counselors come into the Academic Lab classes to deliver our counseling curriculum. We call these visits Counseling Cafes and the lessons last about 15 minutes. On Wednesday, September 25th, all students participated in the first Counseling Cafe of the school year. During this meeting, students learned about the purpose of Counseling Cafes, completed a “minute meeting” survey, and were introduced to their Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP). We use the data from the “minute meeting” survey to select the topics for future Counseling Cafes that are of highest interest to our students. In addition, you will see some of the results from the “minute meeting” when you join us for in-person conferences as we will display the careers that our falcons are currently interested in pursuing on the large bulletin board outside of the Counseling Office.
