The Patton Post
Friday, November 4th

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, November 4th
What a fantastically FUN week we had at Patton! Our Halloween festivities were a huge hit - the weather complied for the parade and the room parents went above and beyond to ensure that our Panthers had amazingly fun class parties!
The students also got to find out who the mysterious A.L was.......and it was our very own Mr B!! The students did a great job at finding the clues and figuring out the puzzle and many of them guessed correctly that it was Mr B! Perhaps indicative of the generation these children are growing up in, a very popular guess was "ALEXA" :) We also had several guess for Mrs. Maloney, whose first name is Alyssa, and several who guessed it was Mrs. Vignocchi because she is my pAL. Such creative thinkers we have here at Patton. We hope they enjoyed solving the riddles and the prizes they received from myself, Mrs Vignocchi and Mr B!
If you were not able to attend the parade or wanted to see all the costumes one more time, here is the video of our livestream as students were exiting the building.
Please click here to view the video of the parade.
Don't forget there is NO SCHOOL this coming Tuesday (8th November) as Patton is a polling location.
Have a great weekend!

NO SCHOOL - TUESDAY NOVEMBER 8TH
Bike Riders - Please remember bikes must be walked on all school property
Please reinforce with your child that riding bikes on school property is NOT allowed. All riders should dismount as soon as they enter school property - this includes all the pathways near the field and the front entrance to school. There have been some near misses with younger siblings recently and we would like to ensure that everyone, both riders and walkers, are safe on school property. This request extends to adults/parents as well. Please be respectful of everyone on our pathways and dismount from your bike. We greatly appreciate your cooperation.
Halloween Candy Donation
Thank you so much to those of you that have dropped off leftover candy to us so far this week! We are collecting for local food pantries so, if you can't face another peanut butter cup, feel free to bring them to Patton and we'll make sure they brighten up someone's day.
4th & 5th GRADE HOMEWORK CLUB
Have your 4th or 5th grader stay after school on (most) Tuesdays in room 255!
Mr. Morkert will provide a quiet space where kids can work on assignments, read, or get extra help. If interested, you must sign up using this link (space is limited to 12). Please be sure to include your child's name when you sign them up and note whether you will pick up your child or if they can walk home. CAP kids welcome as well. Please contact Mr. Morkert for any questions (tmorkert@sd25.org).
PICTURE RETAKE DAY - MONDAY NOVEMBER 7TH
RULER Presentation
We are excited to be sharing the RULER approach to social and emotional learning with our students! Our staff knows and practices the skills of emotional intelligence and is prepared to teach and model these emotional intelligence skills.
We will be infusing RULER into all parts of our school by leading school-wide activities, integrating conversations about emotions into evening events, and offering further opportunities for families to be involved.
In the classroom, teachers will be integrating routines that build emotional awareness, such as creating a class Charter and checking in on the Mood Meter. Teachers will also lead lessons that help students understand emotion concepts such as community building, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. Your child’s teacher will be providing more information about what RULER looks like in their classroom.
We are eager to see your children plotting themselves on the Mood Meter which helps them identify how they are feeling. Students will bring home activities related to the RULER skills and tools to do together. Your involvement is very valuable in reinforcing their learning.
Over the course of the year, I will be providing ongoing communication to you about RULER through our Patton Post. We hope that you will join us at our upcoming RULER Parent Night if you are interested in learning more.
RULER Parent Night
Date: Tuesday, November 29, 2022
Time: 7:00 PM (Please stay for the PTA meeting at 7:30 PM)
Location: Patton Commons
Presented by our Patton RULER Implementation Team
I’m looking forward to hearing how you and your children are feeling this year and how we can support one another in creating a positive and emotionally safe school climate in which everyone may flourish.
LOST AND FOUND
Believe it or not, it's only been 2 weeks since we donated any left over lost and found after conferences and it is already filling up again! Lots of coats have made their way onto the hooks this week and may come in handy as the temperatures start to dip over the next couple of weeks. Please have your student come and check or feel free to pop in so you can check yourself. Thank You!
Recognize a Staff Member - Give a Pat on the Back to a Patton Staff Member
Patton teachers and staff work so hard to support our students on a daily basis. We invite you to fill out this google form if you would like to recognize a staff member or a team for their hard work. We will pass on the good news to them. Thank you in advance for sending an encouraging word as we know it will mean so much to our staff. Staff who have received recognition have been so appreciative. It is such a wonderful way to brighten their day!
