12 Days of Christmas!
Please join us in a fun countdown to winter break with our "12 days of Christmas" themed spirit days!
A Note from Dr. Repicky
Interim Principal’s Stay Extended
Due to Principal Sam Argiri’s recent request to extend his leave, my interim position will now stretch to February 20. Mr. Argiri’s leadership is missed and the building looks forward to his return. As a part-timer, I have enjoyed my first few weeks at Emerson. The support from the staff and students, as well as from the parents whom I’ve met so far, make this decision to stay easy. I look forward to using holiday energy to spice up learning this week and carry us into 2025.
2nd Grade Wax Museum
Emerson’s second grade students gave their parents a look into the future on December 9 when they enacted their wax Museum focused on careers. The following details come from Rosa D’Amico describing the event:
“I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible team that helped bring this project to life. The wax museum came together in the 21st Century classroom with the help of Christina Basilisco at Emerson, as well as Becki Babcock, the art teacher, and the Career Navigators—Jackie Webb, Anne Rescoe, and Patrick Green. Their contributions were invaluable in making this project a success. The second-grade teachers , Robin Jenkins and Molly Carlin, also played a vital role by assisting the students in practicing their reading for the presentations. Their dedication helped ensure that each student felt confident in sharing their career research with the audience.
“The students were encouraged to choose a career and research the facts about their chosen field, along with the education needed to reach their potential. The project gave them the opportunity to take ownership of their learning, which sparked interesting discussions about professions ranging from professional athletes, YouTubers, and animal trainers to more traditional careers like police officers, firefighters, teachers, and medical professionals. Congrats to all the students for examining inspiring careers.”
Popcorn and Pajama Party
The Emerson PTO will celebrate our students reaching their Walk-a-Thon goal this fall with a Popcorn & Pajama party on Friday, Dec 20. Students are encouraged to wear PJs (or a festive holiday sweater) to school and enjoy popcorn provided by the Emerson PTO.
Cody's Corner
Cody Conser-Quarterman Honors His Mom with Heartfelt Library Donation
Last spring, second grader Cody Conser-Quarterman and his family surprised Mrs. Barozzini, the school librarian, with a generous $500 donation, in loving memory of Cody’s mom, Paula. Paula was known for her deep love of books, and her passion for reading was something she shared with her family. “She always had a book in her hand,” said Robin Quarterman. When asked why he wanted to make the donation, Cody simply said, “It was just the right thing to do.”
Mrs. Barozzini and Cody carefully selected a number of books, added dedication stickers, to each one and got them ready to add to the library. But Mrs. Barozzini, had a surprise of her own in store. Last week, Mrs. Barozzini unveiled “Cody’s Corner”, a special bench in the library where all of the books Cody donated are now displayed. The corner serves as a tribute to Paula’s love of reading and Cody’s generous gift to the Emerson library.
“Cody’s Corner is a beautiful way for all of our students to enjoy the books that were so lovingly gifted to us,” said Mrs. Barozzini. “Every time a student sits in the corner or reads a book from that collection, they’re connecting with the love of reading that Paula shared with her family.”
Thank you, Cody, Robin, and Paul, for your loving and generous gift to the library. Your thoughtful gesture will help inspire a love of reading in many students for years to come.

Learning Mode
At this time, families are able to request to change the learning mode for their student(s) for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. Students who are currently attending school in-person can switch to virtual, and students who are enrolled in virtual can switch to in-person. If you do not wish to switch your child’s learning mode, no action is necessary.
Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Submitting the form linked in this email does not guarantee a request will be granted. Requests will be reviewed by building and district leadership and the parent/guardian will be notified. If approved, the change will be effective for the second semester (January 6, 2025 - June 6, 2025). Please carefully consider this semester-long commitment before submitting this application, as requests to change during the second semester will not be granted. However, the District may change your child’s learning mode if appropriate academic progress is not met throughout the semester.
If you are interested in changing your child’s learning mode for the second semester, please fill out this application. You will need to submit one request for each student.
Enrollment Change Request Form
This application will close on December 16th. You will be notified by the District of your child’s application status and specific information will be provided about the switch.
Spirit Day Fun!
