AFSA K-12 Parent Survey
Dear AFSA K-12 Families,
Each year we send out a survey to all of our families to see how we are doing. Please click here to fill out the 2023-2024 Parent Survey. The last day to fill out the survey is June 15, 2024.
Thank you!
AFSA High School Farm and Community Service Day
Twice a year, AFSA High School students head out into the surrounding communities for our Farm and Community Service Days (FCSD). By getting their hands in the dirt, planting, and harvesting, students help local small businesses within our surrounding communities. Locations have included city parks, pumpkin patches, urban farms, historical farms, and more. The goal of this day is not only to give back but also to expose students to ag businesses, how they are run, and what they need to succeed. Connections are built between the school and local business owners, giving students opportunities to further their education and maybe even future employment. We are excited for our spring FCSD coming up May 24th.
Please make sure that your 7th-12th comes to school prepared for the day! Dress for the weather and bring work gloves and a refillable water bottle. The school has a limited supply of work gloves available for students to use. We do send extra water to each location.
AFSA High School Open House and Presentation Night
Current and prospective families are invited to attend our AFSA High School Open House and Presentation Night on Thursday, May 23 from 4-7 p.m.! For families interested in learning more about AFSA K-12, this is a great night to tour the high school building, meet staff and attend student presentations.
Prospective high schoolers can also set up a shadow day. Shadow days allow for prospective students to spend a day shadowing another student to get a better feel of what a day in the life of an AFSA High Schooler is like. Shadow days are only for grades 7-12. To arrange a shadow day please contact Erik Bruner-Wiltse.
Prospective Elementary families who are interested in learning more about AFSA Elementary please contact Liz Burkwald.

Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (Summer EBT) program
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 authorized a permanent, nationwide Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (Summer EBT) program for eligible families beginning in 2024. The state of Minnesota, in a joint effort between the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) is pleased to announce plans to implement this new federal Summer EBT program in summer 2024. The Summer EBT program provides families with school-aged children eligible for free or reduced-price school meals $40/month per child ($120 total) during the summer months to purchase healthy foods with funds placed on EBT cards.
Families are automatically opted into this program by qualifying for Free/Reduced lunch status through the National School Lunch Program by either directly qualifying through different Minnesota assistance programs or by filling out the Application for Education Benefits form. Families may opt out of this service if they so choose. Families can still send in the Application for Education Benefits to see if they qualify for this summer program.
Please contact Ms. Kristina with any questions, or to opt in or out of this state program.
