Digital Tools and Resources Review Process
HCPS is engaging in the next cycle of the review process to continue to develop a technology toolkit that supports instruction, while meeting all legal requirements to ensure a secure environment and protect student privacy and data. This process will contribute to the collection of essential and supplemental digital tools and resources available for classroom use, focused on endorsing resources that addresses a specific instructional purpose.
Essential Digital Tools and Resources:
Essential digital tools are the web-based tools that HCPS has under contract for staff and student use. Our contract with the vendors requires them to protect and secure our students' data. Some essential tools are licensed for each student in the district, and some are licensed for a specific content area or group of students.
Supplemental Digital Tools and Resources:
Supplemental tools are those free tools that HCPS authorizes to be used as supplementary (non-essential) enrichments to students’ educational experience. A tool is authorized if it complies with federal and state standards for protecting students’ data privacy and security. Teachers must consult the parent permission form to ensure parent permission prior to student use.
We invite teachers to submit digital tools and resources for consideration by Wednesday, February 1st. Complete the Digital Tools & Resources Recommendation Form. Only Forms that are completed thoroughly will be considered. If you need support completing the Form, please contact your School Librarian.
