Longacre Weekly News
September 2, 2024
Dear Longacre Families,
We had a wonderful first week of school! Our classrooms were filled with excitement as we begin a new year of learning and leading together. Research supports the importance of putting first things first during the beginning of each school year by establishing a safe and collaborative environment for learning. With that research in mind, each school year at Longacre begins with implementation of our essential S.P.O.T. (Stay Safe, Practice Responsibility, Offer Respect and Team up for Teamwork) lessons that are incorporated with the 7 Habits of Leadership.
Students will also be learning how to resolve interpersonal conflicts by using DeBug; a proactive problem solving process for students to use when they encounter a problem in and/or out of school. All staff at Longacre will help guide and empower students to be proactive problem solvers, which is an important life skill. Please ask your child to explain the five steps of DeBug as the week progresses.
There will be more opportunities to learn about your child’s school life at this Wednesday's Curriculum Night. The schedule for Curriculum Night will be as follows:
- Grades 3, 4 & 5 & Ms. Perris' Class- 5:30 p.m.- 6:15 p.m.
- Grade 1 & 2- 6:30 p.m.-7:15 p.m.
- Parents are encouraged to visit Art, Music & PE classes
*Kindergarten Curriculum night was held on Monday, August 26th. Please contact your child's teacher if you were unable to attend.
We look forward to partnering with you this school year to make it the best learning experience possible for your child! As always, feel free to contact our main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions or need assistance.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal

HELP US KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE AT ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL TIME
Students who are car riders may be dropped off no earlier than 8:15 a.m.
Our first bell rings at 8:25 a.m. in which students may enter the building.
Students should be in their classrooms by 8:30 a.m. ready for instruction to begin.
Our dismissal time is 3:30 p.m. Just as arriving to school on time is essential, so is being present to complete the school day at the required dismissal time. We recognize that there are occasional times when your child might need to be dismissed earlier, but, for the benefit of your student and his/her classmates, it is important that it is occasional and not routine.
If the normal daily dismissal routine is being changed for a particular day, please contact the Longacre office by 2:45 p.m. to allow us to communicate the change with the classroom teacher and child in a timely fashion.
For Kindergarten parents, please remember that pick-up is near the Kindergarten classroom exit doors (basketball blacktop area). Kindergarten parents - you might find parking at Drake Park more convenient as there is a sidewalk that leads to our blacktop area.
Please drive s...l...o...w...l...y on Arundel St. leading into the school parking lot. Arundel is a two-way street so please refrain from passing the vehicles lined up on Arundel as buses and other vehicles are exiting the school parking lot simultaneously. Thank you!

11:40- 5th grade lunch
12:05- 1st grade lunch
