Cell Phones and Technology
Veritas School has updated our expectations regarding student use of cell phones and other electronic devices as per the recent directives by the provincial government (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/k-12/administration/legislation-policy/public-schools/personal-digital-device-restrictions-in-schools).
Student use of personal electronic items (cell phones, gaming devices, etc.) are not permitted at Veritas School unless used with specific permission and proper supervision of the teacher for project-based learning. If brought to school, electronic devices, including cell phones, are to be kept in the student’s locker (grades 6-9) or in the student’s backpack (grades 5 and under). Devices must be powered off during school hours, including recess and lunch breaks.
Parents/Guardians may not contact their child via their cell phone during the school day, as students are required to power off their devices. Please call the school office directly at 250-635-3035 if you wish to contact your child or leave your child a message.
During the first week of school, more information on the use of devices at school will be sent home with your child.
Seesaw
If you are new to Veritas this year, please don't delay in accepting your emailed invitation to Seesaw so you receive all information from Veritas School and your child's teacher!
Parent To-Do List
- Tuition and School Fees: Please ensure the blue payment option forms have been completed. Blue forms were sent home in the beginning of June to returning students and mailed home in July to new families. Most families who were enrolled at Veritas last year have completed their forms. If you require a new form, please stop by the school office. The email for e-transfers is veritasaccounting@cispg.ca.
- Criminal Record Check: All parents must have a CRC on file at the school office before volunteering in any school activities. The way in which CRC's are completed is changing; please watch for more information in September on how to update your CRC before volunteering!
- Driver's Abstract: All volunteer field trip drivers must have a current driver's abstract on file before volunteering as a driver on a school field trip. Driver's abstracts must be renewed when your driver's license is renewed. To complete your driver's abstract, please visit https://onlinebusiness.icbc.com/clio/. Vehicle insurance must also be on file and a new copy provided when your insurance is renewed. A copy of your drivers license is also required.
- After School Care: After School Care (ASC) begins on Wednesday, September 4. All forms, including immunization records, must be submitted prior to your child attending ASC. Please call or visit the school office for ASC forms or to update your child's existing information.

- Hot Lunch: Information on Hot Lunch from the VPSG will be coming soon! Watch for details!
- Before School Supervision: The supervision of students prior to the 8:35 bell is limited to the front of the school and the parking lot area. For the safety of our students, students are not permitted on any playground equipment (front playground or kindergarten area) or in the fields before school hours as these areas are not supervised before school.
- Absentee Notes: Please contact the school explaining your child's absences with a Seesaw message to "Office Staff" and your child's teacher, an email to the office (veritas@cispg.ca), or a phone call (250-635-3035). Absentee reports are crucial to our school's funding, as numerous unexplained absences throughout the school year can mean less government funding for your child.
