Principal's Note
Dear Caregivers, Families, and Otters,
We are a group of 5th graders who are part of the Cooking Club at Meadow View. As you may know, our school has been studying and applying the 7 Habits over the last two years. One of the highlights of last year's Leadership Day was the opportunity for many of our students to teach us about their countries and cultures. This year, we want to showcase our diversity by highlighting our favorite home recipes.
We're excited to invite all caregivers to contribute to the creation of our very first Meadow View International Cookbook! This unique collection aims to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures represented in our community by featuring recipes from around the globe. We encourage you to submit your beloved family recipes in both their original language and an English translation, sharing not just the flavors but also the stories and traditions behind each dish. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your family's culinary heritage and connect with others through the universal language of food.
On May 1st, during our Leadership Day, you and your child will have the chance to bring these recipes to life! Each participating family will be given a table to display their recipe and offer a sample of their dish. This event promises to be a vibrant and delicious exploration of our community's diversity, providing a taste of the world right here at Meadow View. It's about more than just food; it's about coming together to celebrate our differences and similarities, creating a sense of unity and understanding. We can't wait to see the array of dishes and hear the stories they bring to our first-ever international culinary celebration.
To determine your interest in this amazing event, we are asking you to fill out this quick form. As soon as we have your information, we will share a document where you can start entering your recipe. We will accept recipes until April 19th or until we reach a maximum of 50 recipes, whichever comes first.
We are collaborating with a publishing company and hope to publish the cookbook by the end of the year, with all profits going to clear any negative lunch accounts in our school. We believe that every child has the right to a proper breakfast and lunch, and we are committed to making that a reality for all our Otters.
Thank you for supporting this project.

Greetings Sun Prairie Area School District Parents/Caregivers-
Recently, the Sun Prairie Area School District adopted a curriculum for students in grades 4K-5 for English Language Arts instruction, Amplify CKLA 2nd Edition (2022). All parents/caregivers of current SPASD students are invited to apply to serve on a committee alongside our educators to provide feedback about the modifications to the new curriculum in service of living our Sun Prairie School Board Equity Statement. Our committee will meet from June to August, with the dates/times to be determined. Committee members will be asked to review instructional materials individually as well as join other committee members in meetings to provide feedback.
If you are a parent or caregiver of a current SPASD student and you are interested in this work, please complete this survey. The survey closes on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. The applications will be reviewed, and selected parents/caregivers will be notified by mid-May with further details about the committee meetings. Should you have any questions, please email Rick Mueller at rlmuell@sunprairieschools.org or Stephanie Leonard at smleona@sunprairieareaschools.org.
Thank you!

Birthday Treat Guidelines
We wanted to provide some guidelines regarding birthday treats and appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being and inclusivity of all students. Please take a moment to review the following reminders:
Accessibility and Allergies: When bringing in birthday treats, please ensure that the food labels are easily accessible to Kelsey and Madhu, our staff members at the front desk, who are responsible for allergy awareness. This allows them to check for any potential allergens that may affect students in the class.
Individually Packed Items: We kindly request that you consider providing individually packed items for birthday treats. This helps with portion control and ensures convenience for distribution. Individually packaged treats also minimize the risk of cross-contamination and promote cleanliness.
Non-Food Treats: We encourage you to explore the option of non-food treats for birthdays. Non-food items can be equally enjoyable and are a great way to celebrate while accommodating various dietary preferences and restrictions. Examples include small toys, stickers, pencils, or bookmarks.
No Class-Wide Food Items: To maintain a balanced and inclusive approach, we kindly ask that you refrain from providing class-wide food items such as pizzas or hot dishes. This helps prevent any potential disruptions to the regular meal routine and ensures that dietary restrictions are respected.
No Balloons: While we understand that balloons are often associated with celebrations, we kindly request that you refrain from bringing balloons to school. This is to maintain a safe and distraction-free environment for all students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following these guidelines. By working together, we can create inclusive celebrations that ensure the well-being of every student. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
