Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching!
We will be hosting them on the following dates:
- Thursday, October 10, 2024 (In-Person)
- Tuesday, October 15, 2024 (Virtual)
For the in-person conferences on October 10, all teachers will be stationed in the gymnasium, except for two:
- Ms. Urbain (FCS) will be in her classroom (Room 10)
- Ms. Evans (Band/Orchestra) will be in the Library.
Please plan accordingly, as you’ll need a bit of extra time to visit these locations.
Important: Parents must sign up for conference time slots in advance. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated due to the full schedule. If you're unable to meet with a specific teacher, don't worry—the sign-up sheet will include teacher email addresses so you can reach out for any questions or updates on your student’s progress.
The sign-up form will be available starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 and will close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Listen to the Music! Morning Drop Off
You may have noticed that we play music during drop-off each morning. To make it more fun, we’ve created five themed days for the week! Currently, we’re playing the same songs on repeat, and we’d love your help to mix things up. Below, you'll find a link to a Google Form where you can suggest songs for each theme. There's no obligation to participate, but we thought it would be a fun way to get everyone involved!
Here are our weekly themes. Click on the day to request a song!
Motown Monday – Suggest your favorite Motown classics!
80’s Tuesday – Whether it’s “Africa” or “Hungry Like the Wolf,” we’re all about the 80s!
Boy Band Wednesday – Let your students say “Bye, Bye, Bye” to you with some boy band favorites.
Thrasher Thursday – For “those about to rock,” we salute your rock anthems!
Feel-Good Friday – Send us those feel-good tunes to keep the energy high and the smiles wide!
We can't wait to see your suggestions and liven up our mornings!

VISION SCREENING FOR ALL 7th GRADERS
Scranton Honor Society Grade 8
Scranton Middle School will, by invitation ONLY, start the National Honor Society after the second semester. 8th graders who have (and maintain) a 3.8 GPA will receive a letter inviting them to join the Scranton Middle School National Honor Society.
Students who qualify and wish to participate will be required to complete 5 hours of community service and will have two events that they will be asked to help support here at Scranton Middle School. The goal of the organization is to be supportive and provide service to our school and our Brighton community.
Meetings will happen during the three lunch sessions, so no member will have to miss any of their classes to participate.
A detailed letter will be sent to students who maintain a 3.8 GPA and have no discipline or attendance issues at SMS after the second quarter. A student may not have any suspensions and the attendance requirement follows the SMS DC guidelines.
