Fall 2024 Parent Teacher Conferences: NEW Online Appointment Booking System
Fall Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner and I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher(s). We’re using a new online parent teacher conference appointment booking system this year called, Meet the Teacher. The reference guide for signing up will be shared next week. Please note that appointment booking opens on September 30th, 2024 at 4:00 pm and closes on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at 4:00 pm. (Mrs. Norman's room: please note that she will send out a separate email as she will be unavailable on 10/10)
If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact your school office. Staff will be happy to make alternative arrangements on your behalf.
Our entire teaching team looks forward to this opportunity to partner on your child’s success!
Whole Body Listening Seminars
We are super excited that the District and Board of Education decided to hire full-time psychologists for each school building. Dr. Ortiz is now working at Carpenter full-time. School psychologists fulfill many roles including assessments, counseling, collaboration, special education, community resources, crisis intervention, research, and program evaluation. I've worked closely with Dr. Ortiz for a very long time, ever since she started with us as an intern under Dr. Bill Connor.
One of our first endeavors with her full-time status is to focus on what we are calling whole body listening seminars with some of our younger learners. Over the next several weeks, Dr. Ortiz is going to push into our 1st grade classrooms helping to teach and reinforce school learning behaviors. If we find that some of our students need continued support, she will likely run smaller groups. At that time, we'll send out a communication to let our parents know that their child could benefit from additional support. I look foward to the continued collaboration with Dr. Ortiz on how we can continue to support our students.
