FCMS EXPRESS: Special Holiday Issue
Week of December 16th, 2024
From Mr. Liggett
As the first semester comes to a close, it’s truly remarkable to reflect on how quickly this part of the school year has flown by. During this time, we have had so many reasons to be thankful, and I’d like to take a moment to express my gratitude.
First and foremost, I am incredibly thankful for our students. They continually amaze me with their efforts and commitment to learning. This semester, disruptions have been minimal, which speaks volumes about their ability to discern right from wrong and follow through with sound decision-making. Their positive behavior has significantly contributed to a productive and respectful school environment.
I am also deeply appreciative of our staff members, who consistently prioritize what is best for our students. A special thanks goes to two retired teachers, Mrs. Chaddon and Mr. Barricklow, who graciously stepped up to fill our 7th-grade science position. Their dedication and enthusiasm transformed what could have been a challenging situation into a fun and engaging learning experience. Their willingness to step in and make a difference is a testament to their passion for education.
Beyond fostering academic success, we have made it a priority to recognize and celebrate both our students and staff. Initiatives such as honoring the student and teacher of the month, offering positive referrals, and highlighting achievements in our weekly newsletter and daily shout-outs have contributed to creating a supportive and uplifting environment. Additionally, our incentive days have served as meaningful rewards for students who work hard to achieve their goals, reinforcing the value of perseverance and dedication.
Our extracurricular activities have also played an essential role in bridging the gap between the school day and after-school hours, fostering connection and engagement. This year, our school dances have been particularly impactful in helping students build relationships. For the first time, we extended invitations to other 6th-grade students in the county, further strengthening community bonds.
These initiatives reflect our collective commitment to fostering a school culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and motivated to succeed. As we look ahead to the next semester, I am excited to continue these positive trends and build upon the strong foundation we’ve established together.
Thank you to everyone—students, staff, and families—for making this semester such a successful and fulfilling one.
