Class List Requests
Over the next number of weeks, staff will be involved in the creation of class lists for next year. Any families wishing to make specific requests are asked to do so no later than Friday, April 19th.
Please send any requests along to homeroom teachers. Families are advised that requests are not guaranteed, but will certainly be taken into consideration by all staff members during class list creation. When creating class lists, staff take into account a number of factors including but not limited to, social relationships, student need, class numbers, etc.
Class lists will be finalized by staff prior to the end of the school year and class assignments will be shared with families the day prior to the first day of classes for the 2024 school year. We will not be considering any requests for class changes once lists have been finalized. We would like to thank our school community in advance for their understanding and support.
Drama Festival
Next week, Tuesday April 16th, marks Paradise Intermediate's first foray into the world of competitive theatre performance. We are so very proud of our grade 7-9 actors and crew who will be heading to the LSPU Hall to perform "The New Margo" - a gripping drama focused on friendship, suspicion, and shocking instances of gaslighting. If you would like to come out to see our debut performance at Drama Festival 2024, the performance starts at 6:15pm Tuesday April 16th. Tickets are first come, first serve based on individual performances only. Hope to see you there!
Music Visits
Our PI band was so excited to visit our feeder schools this past week and share in some collaborative music making! In what we hope will become a yearly event, our PI band visited both Paradise Elementary and Octogen Pond Elementary to share in some music making and to speak about our band program at Paradise Intermediate. Our school is so fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented group of musicians and we look forward to continuing to grow our band program over the next few years.
Feeder School Visits
As we begin to prepare for the upcoming school year, we are pleased to once again be able to welcome Grade 5 students from our feeder schools Octagon Pond Elementary and Paradise Elementary for a visit to our building. These visits will take place throughout the day on Friday, May 24th. A big thank you to our student leadership team who will be assisting with this event throughout the day.
Night of the Arts
Our PI band, Drama Club and students from our Art classes are preparing a night to showcase the arts at Paradise Intermediate. Performances from our band and drama club as well as an exhibit of artistic selections from our students will take place on Thursday, May 16th. More information regarding ticket sales will be shared with our school community over the coming weeks.
Upcoming Professional Learning
Families are advised that our next professional learning day for teachers will take place on Friday, May 31st. There will be no school for students on that day. Paradise Intermediate will have our final professional learning day in June. Once the date in June has been finalized it will be shared with our school community.
Yearbook
This is our first year with our full population of Grades 6-9 so this yearbook will be bigger and better than ever before! You can visit this website to order your copy: https://ybpay.lifetouch.ca/
Yearbooks are $20 each and will be delivered to your child during the last week of school.
You will need the P.I. school code to place your order- the code is 14650524
Deadline for orders is April 30th.
Lockers/Locks
Over the past few weeks, we have had incidents of student items being taken from lockers. Unfortunately, there is a significant number of students who leave locks off their lockers or who do not lock their lockers throughout the day. In order to discourage theft of items, we are asking all students to ensure that lockers are locked throughout the day with the locks that were assigned to them at the beginning of the school year. For students who have forgotten locker combinations, they are asked to see their homeroom teacher.
Parking Lot
As the weather begins to change and some of snow starts to disappear, we feel that it is the perfect time to provide some reminder regarding our parking lot. Please see below for some reminders.
- Our student drop off lane is single lane traffic only. Students can exit vehicles at any point along our drop off lane. Please encourage your child to exit vehicles when asked by supervision staff. This assists greatly with traffic flow each morning.
- If dropping off in our parking lot, vehicles must reverse park.
- Families are advised that the rear of our building is restricted to bus drop off only.
- Please be mindful of your speed when entering and exiting our lot. Over the next few weeks, many of our students may begin walking or riding to school, increasing the number of pedestrians on our school property.
Youth Advisory Committee - Town of Paradise
A message from the Town of Paradise
As a Town, we know the importance of engaging with all residents regarding the services and programs we provide, and that includes our youth residents. For those residents aged 13 to 18, we want to offer the right programming, events, and initiatives to meet their needs and interests and to do that we’re creating a new Youth Advisory Committee.
The purpose of the new Committee is to give young people a platform to express ideas to Town representatives about existing youth programs and propose new initiatives and ideas. By sharing feedback, insight, and perspective, committee members will play an integral role in strengthening the Town's connection with our youth.
If you have any youth interested in becoming a member of the Youth Advisory Committee, please have them visit www.paradise.ca and look under the Government & Engagement tab! There, they will be able to submit an Expression of Interest Form via email, or in person at the Paradise Double Ice Complex by April 19, 2024.
