Lunch & Learn with the Counselors
We would like to invite parents to our inaugural Lunch & Learn with the Counselors! We will try to do a few of these throughout the year. Our first Lunch & Learn we will be discussing All Things Senior Year as well as an introduction to SchooLinks. There will hopefully be time for Q & A at the end. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.

Lee's Summit West High School's Post Secondary Planning Night
January 23, 2025
6:00 - 7:30 PM
We will have three (3) breakout session timeframes that students and families can attend to get information on various topics (from course enrollment to choosing a college or trade) related to post secondary plans. More information will be forthcoming when it gets closer to the event.
World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day is an annual even that encourages individuals to practice kindness in their daily lives. It highlights the importance of empathy, understanding, and cooperation to create a more harmonious and caring world. This year, World Kindness Day is on Wednesday, November 13th.
How can you participate in World Kindness Day? Here are some ideas:
- Perform Random Acts of Kindness
- Spread Positivity
- Volunteer
- Donate (Time, items, or money)
- Teach Kindness

ACT Prep Class
LSW offers an ACT Prep Class for specific ACT testing dates. The next class is being offered for the December 14th National Test Date. The classes will be held on:
Monday, December 2nd (3:00 - 6:30)
Wednesday December 4th (3:00 - 6:00)
Monday December 9th (3:00 - 6:00)
Wednesday December 11th 3:00 - 6:30)
The cost for this course is $40 per student. If you are interested in signing your student up for this class, please have your student stop by the Counseling Center with their money and visit with Mrs. King. She will help them get signed up.
The next ACT Prep Class will be towards the end of January before the February 8th National Test day.
Scholarships for Seniors
We hope that the school year is off to a great start for you. We wanted to share some scholarship opportunities with you. Here is a compiled list of scholarships that are currently available and they are in chronological order by application deadline to make it easier to review. If you have any questions, please contact Melissa King in the Counseling Center.
* John T. Belcher Scholarship - (any student) - Due to Mrs. King in the Counseling Center by 2:15pm November 11th ~ EXTENDED to November 18th! Pick up application in the Counseling Center. You can also locate it in your email from Mrs. King.
- All highlighted information will need to be answered on a google doc or word doc. On page 2, choose only one essay to write about.
* 2024 Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship - (any student) - Due online by November 12th
* Seven Days Art Competition - (any student) - Due online by December 13th

*MSSDAR Scholarships (various scholarships) - Due online by January 1st
*Seven Days Kindness Scholarship (any student) - Due online by January 10th
