Military Enlistment Appreciation
BEST WISHES TO WHS ENLISTEES!
Honoring Courageous Students Enlisting in the United States Military
Weymouth High School proudly acknowledges and congratulates the exceptional students who have chosen to answer the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Military following their graduation. In recognition of their bravery and dedication, the Weymouth Veterans Council and Weymouth High School recently hosted a Military Enlistment Appreciation Luncheon, celebrating these remarkable WHS students and alumni. Several of the Alumni students are already on duty and were unable to attend, but were represented by their family members.
This event served as a heartfelt tribute to the students' selflessness and commitment to serving our country. As we gathered to honor their achievements, we also paid homage to the values of courage, loyalty, and patriotism that they embody.
The Weymouth High School community extends its warmest wishes and gratitude to these courageous young individuals as they embark on this noble path. We are confident that their dedication and resilience will make a significant impact on our nation and inspire future generations of students to follow in their footsteps.
Sincere thanks to Weymouth Veterans Agent George Pontes and guest speaker Navy Career Counselor Chief Petty Officer Ardonta L. Jackson, United States Navy.

WPS Shines with Three State-Level Winners in Elks Essay Contest
"What Does Patriotism Mean to Me?"
Weymouth Public Schools proudly congratulates Chapman Middle School students Mufassira Bilqes (Grade 6 - 3rd place), Emerson Dyer (Grade 7 - 2nd place), and Conner Nazzaro (Grade 7 - 3rd place) for their outstanding achievements in the Elks Essay Contest at the state level.
These talented students showcased their exceptional writing abilities by thoughtfully expressing their personal understanding of patriotism in our country. Their heartfelt essays not only captured the essence of national pride but also demonstrated a deep appreciation for the values that bind us together as Americans.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the teachers who have nurtured and cultivated these students' writing skills, enabling them to excel in this competitive arena. Their dedication and commitment to fostering excellence in education serve as a testament to the high standards of Weymouth Public Schools.
Once again, congratulations to Mufassira, Emerson, and Conner for their remarkable achievements. Weymouth Public Schools is honored to celebrate their success and is confident that their accomplishments will inspire their peers to strive for excellence in their own academic pursuits.
A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
It’s one of our absolutely favorite days of the year: Weymouth Special Olympics Unified Game Day! The weather couldn’t have been better this morning, and we were thrilled to welcome student-athletes from across the district for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie!
The event kicked off with an opening ceremony and parade, led by the Weymouth Police & Fire Honor Guard and featuring distinguished guests such as Senator Patrick O'Connor, Fred Happel Councilor-at-Large, and representatives from the Weymouth Police Department and Representative James Murphy's office. WHS student Isaac Baccus served as the event emcee, freshman Ella Richardson performed the national anthem, and students were led in by the Honorary Grand Marshall, Murphy 5th grader Eftychis Tsoabanas, and the Junior Honorary Grand Marshall, WHS senior Joseph Quill.
Our athletes enjoyed a variety of activity stations, including hurdles, cornhole, soccer, football, shot put, long jump, hula-hoop dancing, and an action-packed tug-of-war station! There was laughter and cheers at every turn from both our athletes and their spectators and supporters.
It takes a village to pull off an event this large. We extend our thanks to all of our event sponsors, the many WPS staff and student volunteers who worked to bring this event to fruition, our community partners, SEPAC, and dozens of others who pitched in with their time and talent.

Wildcat Media Club
The Wildcat Media Club has been hard at work!
Enjoy their latest efforts:
- Wildcat Media Club: Murphy School, May 2025
- Wildcat Media Club: Chapman Weekly Announcements, May 1, 2025
A media club is essential in fostering students' skills and talents, promoting creative expression, and building a more informed and connected school community.
Skill Development: A media club offers students the opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills, including writing, interviewing, photography, videography, and editing. These skills are not only essential for those interested in pursuing a career in media but also contribute to their overall personal and professional growth.
Creative Expression: Media clubs provide a platform for students to express their creativity and explore their interests. They can experiment with different forms of media and share their unique perspectives on various topics, promoting self-expression and enhancing their creative problem-solving abilities.
Collaboration and Teamwork: In a media club, students learn to work together on projects, fostering collaboration and teamwork skills. This experience prepares them for future work environments and helps them build relationships with peers who share similar interests.
Developing Media Literacy: As participants in a media club, students become more discerning consumers of media, learning to evaluate the credibility of sources and understanding the process behind creating news and entertainment. This media literacy is a crucial skill in today's digital age.
Building Confidence: By actively participating in media production and sharing their work, students can gain self-confidence as they see their ideas come to fruition and their efforts appreciated by others.
Community Engagement: A media club can serve as a vital source of information within the school community, providing updates on school events, student achievements, and important issues. This contributes to a greater sense of community and encourages engagement among students, teachers, and parents.
Chapman Middle School: Selected for State House Performance
Massachusetts Educators Associations' Hill Day
The Maria Weston Chapman Singers, a distinguished ensemble representing Weymouth's Maria Weston Chapman Middle School, have earned the privilege to perform at the Massachusetts State House on May 19, 2025, as part of the esteemed Massachusetts Music Educators Association's (MMEA) Hill Day. The Chapman 8th Graders, chosen to represent the choir, will stand as a testament to the exceptional musical talent cultivated within Weymouth's education system.
The MMEA Hill Day event underscores the vital role that music education plays in fostering a well-rounded learning experience for students across the Commonwealth. This momentous occasion will not only showcase the musical prowess of the Maria Weston Chapman Singers but also highlight the importance of maintaining a robust and dynamic music education curriculum in our schools and communities.
As these talented young musicians grace the State House with their harmonious voices, they will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on all those in attendance, and further emphasize the value of continued support for the arts in education. We wish the Maria Weston Chapman Singers the best of luck in their performance, and hope that this opportunity serves as a stepping stone for their continued growth and success in the years to come.

The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) is a FREE program designed to introduce high school students and recent graduates to union careers in the building trades.
HMSE takes place in the offices and shops of premier mechanical and electrical contractors and union training centers throughout the country. Through training sessions led by craft professionals, students explore the basics of the sheet metal, electrical, piping and plumbing trades and come away energized by a high paying future with job security and no college debt.
The Heavy Metal Summer Experience gives students exposure to sheet metal, piping, and plumbing trades. The camps are built to offer students hands-on learning through projects and working alongside craft professionals. Students will get to tour our shops and union training facilities for a glimpse at local apprenticeship programs to see first-hand what it takes to succeed.
This is a great program for graduating students who are looking for an alternative to the traditional 4-year degree. Many come away energized at the prospect of no student debt, high pay, job security, and the ability to continue developing their skills. This opportunity is open to both students who have experience in the trades and those who will be dipping their toes in for the first time.
There is no cost to students to attend the camp, students will receive Red Wing work boots, PPE, tool bag filled with tools courtesy of Milwaukee. Our camp will span over 2 weeks, and we will end the camp with a graduation ceremony. Students can invite their friends and loved ones to view their projects and help them celebrate their accomplishment of completing the camp.

SEEKING VEHICLE DONATIONS
Why Donate Your Car / Truck to Weymouth CTE Automotive Students?
Donating your car to the Weymouth Career and Technical Education (CTE) Automotive Program is an incredible way to support students in their journey to becoming skilled professionals in the automotive industry. Here's how your donation can make a difference:
- Donating your vehicle provides CTE students with additional real-world, hands-on experience. They can work on actual car systems, diagnose issues, perform repairs, and gain experience with modern automotive technologies. This is a vital part of their education, as it helps them bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical skills.
- By donating a newer vehicle, you ensure students are working with the most up-to-date automotive technologies. This prepares them for today's fast-evolving automotive industry and makes them more competitive when entering the workforce or pursuing certifications.
- Students will advance their knowledge of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance, developing the skills they need to succeed in the automotive field. These skills are required for industry certifications that can boost their careers.
- The hands-on work with your donated vehicle aligns with the competencies students need to earn recognized certifications, essential for securing high-demand, high-wage jobs in the automotive sector.
By donating your car, you're making a lasting impact on the next generation of automotive professionals, providing them with the training they need to succeed in the workforce. Your donation is not just a car—it's an investment in their future!
DONATED VEHICLES MUST BE NO OLDER THAN 10 YEARS OLD.
It is desirable for vehicles to be as new as possible to provide students with the most up-to-date technology for learning purposes.

CLICK HERE TO REGISTER: https://youthleadershipacademy.campbrainstaff.com/
This program is for teenagers 15 to 17 years old that have demonstrated leadership potential. Ideally you will have completed at least one season of the Academy in previous years, but this is not a requirement if you are recommended to us.
If this is your first year as a Peer Leader you will spend your first week training with other Peer Leaders learning the games, activities, philosophy and theory of group development along with the proper use of the high ropes course and how to safely belay. The second week you will be assigned to a group under the supervision of our staff.
Returning Peer Leaders are assigned to a group straight away.
The weeks you choose do not need to be back-to-back. You can attend training at the start of the summer and return and work with a group in August for example. This is an unpaid, volunteer position which is a great addition to your resume. You will learn important leadership skills and make new friends. If you have any questions on the application process please contact the Academy Office.

What is a Wraparound Center?
The Wraparound Center serves as a valuable resource hub for families within Weymouth Public Schools. Our mission is to empower families by connecting them to community-based resources that align with their unique culture, voice, and preferences. Our ultimate aim is to provide comprehensive support to students and their families, enabling them to develop a personalized plan that caters to their specific needs and self-identified goals. By facilitating access to available resources, we equip our students and families with the tools they need to fully engage in the school experience.
The Wraparound Center is staffed by Kelsie Bromberg, LICSW, and overseen by Brynn Cooper, LICSW. This collaborative effort between our schools, central office, and community partners has allowed us to establish this invaluable resource for families within Weymouth Public Schools.

All Welcome!
VISIT TEXTILE RECYCLING HUB FOR MORE INFORMATION
Massachusetts has added textiles to the waste bans, which means new state rules require textiles be kept out of the trash so they can be recycled or donated for use. Textiles should not be placed in your curbside recycling cart as they damage the sorting equipment at the recycling centers.
So you might ask, " if we don’t put textiles in the trash or our recycle bins, what are we supposed to do?"
WPS and Bay State Textiles are launching the Textile Recycling Corporate Citizen Initiative.
A Textile Recycling Corporate Citizen agrees to host one or more Bay State Textiles recycling bin(s)
