COLT CORNER
Colleyville Middle School
October 28-November 1
Principal Notes
CMS Families,
Next week we are celebrating Red Ribbon Week! Lots of fun on the horizon! Thank you for your continued support and for partnering with us to make Colleyville Middle School an amazing place for our staff and students!
"Anything but a Backpack Day" encourages students to carry their supplies in creative, non-traditional items. However, restrictions for safety and practicality apply. These include limits on size and weight, prohibiting oversized or excessively heavy items, and ensuring students can carry items themselves. For safety, sharp, motorized, or flammable items are not allowed. Disruptive objects, such as loud items or those that block visibility, are also restricted. To maintain hygiene, unsanitary items or animals are prohibited. Items must fit through doors and in storage spaces, and all regular school rules still apply to ensure a fun, safe event.
Campus Community Event this week - Hurricane Relief Efforts sponsored by Student Leadership Organizations! See flier for details.
Counselor's Corner
Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well! We had the pleasure of welcoming Collegiate Academy to our campus to discuss an incredible opportunity for our Colts the chance to earn both an associate degree and a high school diploma simultaneously at no cost to families by attending GCISD Collegiate Academy.
Collegiate Academy is a National Blue Ribbon School, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for its outstanding commitment to high-quality education. This program offers students a valuable head start on their college education while still in high school at no cost to students and their families.
Please note that Collegiate Academy has limited spots, accepting only 100 students per cohort from all four GCISD middle schools combined.
If you're interested in learning more, we invite you to attend a parent information meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and learn how your student can benefit from this program.
For those ready to apply, the application form is available here: Collegiate Academy Application.
Thank you for considering this fantastic opportunity for your student. Collegiate Academy looks forward to seeing you on November 20th!
Thank you,
CMS Counselors

COTILLION - FAQs
FAQ about Cotillion and the Volunteer Meetings:
What is Cotillion?: Cotillion is a fun-filled 4-week event where your child will learn etiquette, social manners, and two different dance styles each night. Each week the event will have a different theme. The students are encouraged to dress in the theme and will enjoy food and dances that correspond with the theme. Cotillion will end with a formal event where your child will put into practice the etiquette, dance and social skills they have learned during the more casual events.
Will my child be partnered with the same person all 4 nights?: No, they will have a new partner every night.
Can I make a request for my child to be paired with a certain friend?: No, pairing is random.
What if my child can’t make all 4 nights?: Things come up and that is totally fine. Just make sure to let us know as soon as you can so that we can make any adjustments to the line up.
My child has allergies to certain foods. How is this addressed?: When you sign up there will be a section to let us know anything important, including food allergies. We will provide other options
Are the children fed dinner?: With the exception of finale, all other days will have snacks like foods and drinks.
I want to volunteer but can’t make the meeting.: No worries. Please fill out the volunteer meeting google form and we will get all the important information out to you. You will still be able to volunteer if you can’t make the meeting.
What is the volunteer meeting for?: The meeting is going to go over what Cotillion looks like, how the night should look the day of, and talk about the different committees you can volunteer to help with.
