Front Office Reminders
Recently there has been an uptick in the amount of items being dropped off in the front office. Anytime an item is dropped off this creates an interruption for the class, as well as the front office. Students either miss class time to come get the item, or the front office staff has to leave the office and take it down. Please only bring items to be dropped off in the front office if it is absolutely imperative. If your child is having a hard time remembering everything, try packing up the night before, creating a checklist and hanging it on the front door, or setting an alarm reminder.
A Note from the Principal
Dear Audubon Families,
Happy December! It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of another calendar year, and the second semester will conclude at the end of the month!
Just a quick reminder of important progress monitoring dates that are coming up during the first week of December:
FAST Progress Monitoring Grades K-2nd Dec. 5th – ELA Dec. 6th - Math iReady Progress Monitoring Grades 3rd-6th Dec. 4th-8th
It is imperative on progress monitoring days that your child is at school on time, receives plenty of rest and eats a nutritious breakfast. Remember, it’s always important to encourage your child to do his/her best work; and when something is difficult, success is achieved by working hard. We will continue to use this information to drive our planning and instruction as we progress into the second half of the school year.
As we approach the end of 2023, it is with great pride that I look back at the accomplishments our students have achieved both socially and academically. They have worked hard, and I am so proud to be part of such an amazing school. We appreciate your partnership and continued support throughout the school year.
I would like to wish all our Audubon Families a safe and happy holiday season. Winter break begins after school on Friday, December 22nd with classes resuming on Monday, January 8th. Please note that December 20th, 21st and 22nd are all early release days with a 1:15pm dismissal time.
Even though the holidays can be busy, please take time to enjoy the family time, create new family memories, and embrace this treasured time. Your children grow up so fast, and this is a great time to just enjoy the time you have together. Make sure to read with your child every day – find a good book and enjoy it together as a family. Talk about the opportunities to continue to grow the remainder of the school year – maybe set a family goal for the new year. Have a wonderful winter break and we’ll see you in 2024!
Sincerely,
Candace Jones, Principal

Social Studies Adoption- Parent/Community Involvement
Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is inviting parents/community members to provide input for the selection of State Standards aligned instructional materials. There are four opportunities for parent/community input.
Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is committed to fostering the kinds of high-quality learning experiences we know students need to ensure they have a solid K-12 Social Studies education. The upcoming instructional materials adoption cycle for social studies is an opportunity to select high-quality instructional materials that support these
kinds of learning experiences beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Participating in the instructional materials review process is a powerful opportunity for teachers, administrators, parents, and community members.

-Students cannot bring a friend from class to sit with their parent/adult. Only parents/legal guardians on the child's information forms in FOCUS can eat with a student.
-Parents/Guardians must check in at the front office as a visitor and get a yellow badge. This badge must be worn at all times when on campus.
-Parents/Guardians MUST stay in the courtyard. You cannot walk your child to the restroom or to class.
*Teachers have been reminded that students need to use the restroom before lunch time, so this shouldn't be an issue. :-)
Eat Lunch With Your Student
Parents and Families,
Here is what you need to do if you want to eat lunch with your child:
- Make sure you notify your child’s teacher that you are eating lunch with them, so they can meet you at the tables. If you send an email, please do so in enough time for the teacher to see it before lunch.
- Only Parents and Legal Guardians can eat lunch with their own child(ren).
- Sign in as a Visitor in the Front Office and obtain a yellow name badge (you are not volunteering; you are visiting for lunch).
- You will report to the courtyard and wait on your child. The teacher will release your child to this area when he/she is taking his/her students to lunch.
- This area will be supervised during the entire lunch period.
- If you are not a registered volunteer, you will need to be escorted on and off campus by a staff member.
Every Friday will be available for parent/child lunch. We have limited seating, so you need to sign up through sign-up genius. The link for that is below:

Once again, I am happy to share this news with you. I look forward to seeing you and your child enjoy lunch together on Fridays!
Sincerely,
Candace Jones
