We are looking forward to seeing all of our families for Parent Teacher Conferences. Thanks to all of you who helped your children participate in our Homecoming Dress-Up Days! This week we visited the Fire Station. Our students were very excited to learn about fire safety.

Parent Teacher Conferences and a Food Truck??
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held the week of October 21-25. We hope to see you all. We are also very pleased to announce that on Tuesday October 22-we plan to have a food truck available. SWAT-(sweets with a twist) will be here from 4-6. Please consider getting a sweet treat.
Title I Meeting Take Two
Unfortunately, not many people were able to attend our Title Program meeting. If you are interested in learning more about our Title program we will have another Title meeting on October 22 at 4:00 P.M. Stop in to the Title I meeting and hit up the food truck. The meeting should take around 15-20 minutes. If this time is not convenient and you want to learn more stop in and see me before or after your child's conference.
Co -Leaders Of The Month
Congratulations to Cailee Coco and Avery Allen for being named co-leaders of the month.
Assembly
We held our first assembly of the 2024-2025 school year. Our first assembly celebrated our students. During this assembly we recognized all of the leaders of the week. We also announced our Co-leaders of the month.
Counselor's Corner
Many exciting things are going on in the counseling department. We are excited to announce that the Self-Control Groups and Self-Esteem Small Group have started! These groups help students learn to manage their emotions and build a positive self-image, which boosts their confidence. We are also introducing a new program called "Lunch Bunch." In this program, students will have lunch with the counselor in a random group from their grade level. This will help them make friends and build connections. Second grade will be the first group to try it out before we expand it to the whole school. Joining Lunch Bunch is optional, so students can say no if they want. Throughout the year, everyone will get a chance to join. We believe these programs will really help our students grow socially and emotionally!
Our counselor teaches regular classroom lessons. Right now her lessons are focusing on Leader In Me Habits. To reinforce your child's SEL lessons at home, encourage open discussions about feelings during dinner, where everyone shares their emotions from the day. Talk about challenges and use the "Flipping Your Lid" concepts to explore calming strategies together. You can also create a "bucket filling" jar for kind actions, where family members write down the nice things they've done for each other.
Leader In Me Jobs
Our first round of jobs ended October 4. Thank you to all of our students who did their jobs during this first round. Everyone did an excellent job. Our second round has begun.
Weekly Leader Program
This year we established a new program to recognize students who are being good leaders. Each week every teacher will pick a weekly leader. These students will be recognized on the announcements and they will receive a certificate. We will also be reaching out to let families know when their child has received this honor. Additionally, each month we will choose one leader of the month. Both the leader of the month and all of the leaders of the week will be recognized at our monthly student assembly. We are very excited about this program and eager to recognize our leaders!
Questions of the Day
Each day on our announcements we have a question of the day. These questions are usually fun posers that promote conversation and community, for example, do you prefer dogs or cats? One of our new leadership jobs is to have a student announce the question of the day.
Responsibility Room
Responsibility Room is a program we use to help students rethink some of the behaviors that have gotten them into trouble. We run it during part of our recess. Students who are referred to the responsibility room will spend time in restorative practices and rethinking their choices. We are excited about this program and hopeful that it will help our students make sound choices.
