TPMS Community Newsletter
Week of September 22nd
Dear TPMS Families,
As part of our combined efforts to continue to cultivate an kind and inclusive school community at TPMS, MCPS has created student lessons/modules on Culture of Respect and Student Code of Conduct/Rights and Responsibility Modules. These modules are designed to empower students to take an active role in ensuring they are informed and able to recognize signs of bullying / cyber bullying, harassment (Including sexual harassment, hate-bias incidents, hazing, intimidation, and student gender norms. The due date for this is September 27 (just around the corner) and we are working with the teams at TPMS to help students complete the two modules, but would love them to complete the two modules at home, if possible.
In your child's canvas dashboard, they can find the two modules to complete - and both modules must be completed for students to receive 3 SSL hours. Students can utilize TAP time in their classes to complete the modules or they can complete them at home. In addition to the SSL hours, students can also earn House points for completion.
Thank you for your help in getting this done as our school goal is to have 100% of the kids complete the Culture of Respect modules.
Sincerely,
Erin Martin
Schedule for the Week
Please remember that this Friday is a half day for students. We will use this day for our first House Community Day. During this day, students are encouraged to wear their House color and bring their House spirit as students will be engaging in fun, community building challenges throughout the day. Dismissal is at 12:30pm.
Here's What's Happened This Week!
Last Friday, Ms. Phelan hosted an authors' talk in the media center. The authors' talk featured fifteen-year-olds and Montgomery County natives Fenley Scurlock and Jason Liaw. Fenley is a student at Stanford Online High School. Jason is a student in the Science, Math, Computer Science (SMCS) magnet program at Poolesville High School in MCPS, and a three-time class president. Fenley and Jason have co-authored the book, Down to Business.

Attention 8th Grade Families
Hello 8th Graders (& Families)! We are STRIVING to 75 this school year! To achieve our 75 SSL hours, we want our students to get involved! Find opportunities within this flier of activities within the TPMS building and outside in the community. There will be recognition, and a special pin provided during 8th grade promotion for the students that achieve this goal (and who have already done so!). If you've completed your 75 SSL hour requirement, aim for 260! If you have any questions, reach out to our SSL coordinator, your school counselor or Ms. Soriano!
