Friendship Week
Meet Ms. Terry!
About Me:
I've been teaching Physical Education for 26 years.
I've taught every grade level TK-12th.
I have been at Farr for 4 years, and I love teaching at Farr because the kids are so enthusiastic!
About My PE program:
I teach every grade here at Farr TK-5th grade.
Our vision is that every student feels supported and confident to try a variety of activities that enhance their physical and mental/emotional well being.
We started off the school year with the younger students in grades TK- 2nd exploring locomotor movements in space, like skipping, hopping, galloping & running while staying safe.
The older students in grades 3rd - 5th grade have been working on team building activities that teaches students the important characteristics while working together to accomplish a task.
All grade levels have been working on improving their fitness by doing daily warm-up stretches, and activities that get their heart rates up in order to improve their cardiovascular fitness. Every PE class includes strengthening exercises such as planks and push-ups. I encourage them to work on these strengthening exercises at home; ask them to show you!
Here are some activities we will be doing for the year:
Ball Skills practice such as rolling, underhand toss, overhead toss and catching.
Scoops
Striking With a Paddle
Soccer Skills
Kickball
Basketball Skills
Noodle Tag Games
Flag Tag and Evasion Games such as "Pirates".
Other Games such as Hula Hut Knockdown, Hula Hoop Showdown, Troll Mountain, Poison Ball, Slam Dunk, Builders & Destroyers, Cat & Mouse... and many more.
Parachute Activities
Running Activities
Jump Rope
Fitness Stations
Every 5th Grader is required by the State of California to take a Physical Fitness Test. We administer the test in the Spring. We do the PACER, also known as the Beep Test, for cardiovascular fitness. We also have students perform the curl-up (also known as sit-ups) & the push-up tests for strength. The final test we do is for flexibility, which is the shoulder stretch.
I am really looking forward to this school year because I love seeing students try something new and succeed!

4th grade focus
"Hello Farr Family,
This week we will be highlighting our 4th grade students! Recently, our students have been working on the following:
In Math, they are learning about complex adding and subtracting problems with numbers that are multi-digit. They use algorithms and tape diagrams to follow expected math steps.
For Language Arts, they have also been practicing proper punctuation, quotations, how to form compound sentences, and have been setting iReady and independent reading goals.
In addition to these focuses, our DLP students are learning about cognates!
We are so excited to see our 4th grade students learning and growing into wonderful leaders! " -4th Grade Team
Covid-19 Update
If your student tests positive, please call the office to report the absence and notify the school.
Extra Precautions:
If a student returns to school after it has been reported that they are feeling better and they then develop/report the same or new symptoms, they will be sent home and must test again. Please ensure your child's health has improved significantly before they return to school.
PTA
Parents have two options to join!
Option #1- Stop by the office with $10 cash. The office will do a paper registration and give your membership fee to our PTA President, Ms. Keith.
Option #2- Use the QR code posted below to complete an online registration fee. The membership fee will still be $10, but a convenience fee of $1 will be applied making your total $11.
Attendance
Please remember regular attendance is a crucial factor in the success of your child's education. Every day that is missed, important instructional minutes are also missed impacting your child's learning. Tardiness also effects how well your child does. Any student who is not in their classroom by 8:00am every day is considered tardy. Allowing students sufficient time to be prepared for the day is key!
If your child must miss school, please call the office at (760)735-3049 within 48 hours to report the absence.
