Volunteers Needed: SPES Virtual Career Fair
Stony Point is hosting a Virtual Career Fair for our students! Classes will join Zoom sessions from 8:05-8:30 AM on March 18th- March 28th to hear from a different presenter each day. Our goal is for students to learn more about what careers may align with their interests, hear about a wide range of careers, and affirm diversity. We are looking for presenters to share information about their careers and stories of their unique journeys to finding their current jobs. Please click HERE to submit the Google form indicating your interest in serving as a presenter.
Note from the School Nurse
I wanted to do a quick check in with you regarding head lice in school. I will say, we experienced a delightful break from these nuisance pests for a few years post-Covid, but now, they seem to be making their come back. We have experienced a few cases this school year, so I just wanted to send a reminder to everyone to routinely check your children throughout the year, especially when you notice they are scratching their heads more than usual.
We know a few cases will pop up throughout the year, this is normal – but if we all work together, we can keep these episodes to a minimum. If you have any questions fee free to reach out. I have lots of information I am happy to share with you.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Your nurse,
Christine
You're Invited: STEAM Night!
Our second annual STEAM Night will be held on Tuesday March 26th from 6:30-7:30 PM. Your child will get to show you STEAM activities and educational technology students use at Stony Point, and you can try for yourself! More information about specific centers and experiences will come soon.
Stony Point celebrates Kindness Month
Students across Stony Point celebrated Kindness Month throughout the month of February! Pictured below are the Kindness rocks that students decorated as a part of The Kindness Rocks Project. Keep an eye out for them in our gardens around the school!
Each class of students completed secret kindness missions for another class over the course of the month. Some of these missions included baking cupcakes, special buddy reading time, writing reasons why the class is amazing, and creating scavenger hunts for each other!
Food Drive
Stony Point Elementary is teaming with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank for the 2024 School Food Drive. Between March 6th-March 22nd bins will be located in the front area to drop off food items. Please help us stock these bins and help provide food resources to our community.
