PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Hello Husky Families,
Time truly flies when you’re running with the best! It’s hard to believe we’re already in November. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who attended parent-teacher conferences. Your partnership in your children’s educational journey makes a significant difference!
We have many exciting activities lined up for this month, including our wonderful after-school programs like Battle of the Books, Choir, Craft Club, and Student Leadership. Additionally, don’t miss our fun events: the Halloween Dance on the 8th and Turkey Bingo on the 15th. We would love to see each of you there to join in the festivities!
Please note that November 5th is a remote learning day and there is no school on November 11th . Your child’s teacher will share expectations and work for November 5th, as we transition to a remote learning day.
As we approach Veterans Day, I want to take a moment to express our gratitude to all the brave men and women who have served in the military. Your sacrifices and dedication to our country are truly inspiring. The values of courage, resilience, and service you exemplify enrich our community. Let us honor and remember those who have fought for our freedoms.
Our lost and found is growing! Please encourage your child to check for any lost items—it's a bit like a treasure hunt!
Being on time for school is essential. Our days are filled with learning that begins promptly at 8:05 AM. Arriving late can impact your child’s progress and growth, so please do your best to ensure they arrive before the last bell at 8:00 AM.
I’m pleased to share that our school-wide attendance over the past thirty days stands at an impressive 93.7%! This shows just how important it is for our students to be present and engaged in their learning.
Thank you for your continued support, and remember that my door is always open for any questions or discussions!
Warm regards,
Maranda Stone

FOOD FIGHT! - CANNED FOOD DRIVE
The 4th annual Chugiak-Eagle River Food Fight starts today! Let's keep the Food Fight trophy at Homestead this year and support our local food pantry! We love a little friendly competition for a great cause! Alpenglow joined the competition this year, so we are competing against Ravenwood, Alpenglow, Chugiak, and Birchwood this year.
There is also a Homestead classroom competition - the class who collects the most canned goods will receive a class party from SLC.
THANK YOU to SLC for sponsoring such an amazing event!
Let's go Huskies!

ASD WELLNESS PROJECT
Dear Parent,
I want to let you know our school is participating one more time in the study about school lunches. The Wellness Initiative Study, a partnership between ASD and the University of Alaska is looking at how longer lunch periods, recesses, and more movement breaks throughout the day help the health of our kids. In addition, researchers are studying changes in how school lunches are served. This year our students are being asked to participate in only the hot lunch portion of the study. Any student can sign up whether they eat hot lunches or not. If you and your child agree to participate, your child can get up to $100 for being in this study. More details about how to participate in this study can be found at this link: https://redcap.link/ne0yv1cp
Information about the study will also be sent home with your child. Thank you for considering helping us learn more about ASD’s Wellness Initiative!
