Dear Spring Mills Shark Families,
As we navigate through recent events in our community, I want to assure you that the well-being of our students and families remains our top priority. We understand that times like these can be challenging. While I have previously shared, and the district has communicated, that additional support is available, I want to make it abundantly clear what specific resources students have access to should families need them.
Our social worker is ready and willing to meet with any child who needs support. Furthermore, Dr. Salah and I have had several conversations about the district’s commitment to deploying additional resources if necessary. At this time, we have not had requests for social work support that could not be handled within our current staffing levels. Our building and district social work support teams are outstanding and ready to assist if needed. For a direct connection with our Student Services Department, please contact 248-684-8236.
You may have also noticed over the past week that Rosie has been spending more time at Spring Mills Elementary School. Not only is Rosie a trained detection dog, but she also often provides great comfort for students. Rosie and her handler, Mr. Joe, are committed to supporting Spring Mills throughout the rest of the school year. You can learn more about Rosie by clicking the following link: Elite K-9 Detection - Rosie.
Additionally, next week, we are fortunate to have Marty Kaye, a seasoned school administrator, join us beginning Tuesday, May 28th, to provide additional support. Marty's experience and dedication to student well-being will be a valuable asset as we work through the remainder of the school year.
Again, I want to reiterate the communication I sent last week in my weekly Shark Nation Notes: we encourage any student or family needing support to reach out. Our doors are always open, and we are here to help. I have an open line directly to Dr. Salah and the Central Office Team. Together, we will continue to foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for all our students. I encourage everyone to make the remaining last couple of weeks of the school year great for our students.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Let's continue to support one another and stay strong as a community.
Take care,
Sarah Bentley, Principal
Spring Mills Elementary
School Folder Ad Sponsorship
National School Folders has been providing take home school folders for multiple years at zero cost to our school. Due to ever increasing printing and shipping costs, National School Folders is asking for help from the community in sponsoring ads for the 2024-2025 school year so that the folders will continue to be free.
There are two ways to help sponsor our School Folder:
*Business sponsorship: $350.00 (a discounted ad price) which includes a business ad on your school folder for the 24-25 school year.
*Personal sponsorship: $75.00 which includes your name on the back of the folder as a
sponsor.
For more information on how to sponsor an ad, please contact our National School Folders representative Bob Lundwall at:
586-405-1144
Ad Sponsorship Deadline is Friday June 7.

Circle Drive Reminders - Please share with other family members who may pick up your student.
Thank you to everyone following the guidelines making the circle drive a smoother experience for your community! Please see reminder below and share these rules with other family members who may pick up your student at times.
Arrival/Dismissal - updated information
- Our building doors open at 9:10 am. Please do not drop off early, as there isn't adult supervision outside of the building. You may only use the front loop for drop off
- Upper El Centrum doors close at 9:15am If your child arrives later than this, please use the front doors of the building.
- Safety first! Drivers will need to remain in their lane until all students have been unloaded; you are not allowed to pass other cars if your children unloaded first.
- Also for safety reasons, drivers and other adults must remain in the car during pick up and drop-off. If your child requires help getting in or out of their vehicle please park in the parking lot and walk to the doors to get your child/pick your child up.
- Always have your green name sign clipped to your passenger visor during afternoon pick up - this keeps things moving quickly for the entire Spring Mills community. Please let your child's teacher or the office know if you did not receive a sign and we will send them home with your child.
- When possible, please move your child's seat to the passenger side of the vehicle. Children should not be exiting out into traffic, but rather on the curb side.
- The school day ends at 4:08 pm. Please do not arrive before 4pm. DO NOT EXIT your vehicle from the circle to meet students.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!
