Family Newsletter

Dear Mariner Families:
It’s hard to fathom that we are already past the halfway mark of the school year; time seems to be flying by! We have some exciting events coming up: the 100th Day of School, Student-Led Conferences, and family Flip N Fly Night. We hope your family can participate in these opportunities. Additionally, we will be honoring Ms. Espy for National School Counseling Week and celebrating our wonderful bus drivers for Love the Bus Month. Our Science Olympiad Team is set to compete in the county competition on March 1st. Our Mainers will also be performing in All County Chorus on March 1st. We know they will SAIL to success!
Here are a few reminders for the month:
Please ensure that all student belongings (water bottles, lunch boxes, hoodies, coats, etc.) are labeled with both first and last names. This will help us return lost items to students more easily.
It’s essential for students to have a spare set of clothes at school for emergencies, especially since there are often playground falls into puddles.
As temperatures drop, please make sure that children are dressed appropriately for school and for outdoor play during recess. Coats, hats, and mittens or gloves are particularly important during this season.
To ensure a smooth morning carline, we ask that vehicles pull all the way up to allow as many children as possible to exit at once. Stopping in the middle can cause confusion and disrupt traffic flow. Remember, school starts at 7:40 this year. Any student arriving after 7:40 must be signed in by an adult at the front office.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Have a great month!

Attendance Tips

Did You know?
Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
Students can still fall behind if they miss just one or two days every few weeks.
Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up
