Halloween Costumes
We have many students with wonderful, creative ideas about what costumes to wear. What is important to remember, though, is costumes that portray stereotypes about a specific group, culture or race can be hurtful. While we are confident our students would not intentionally try to offend their classmates or teachers, we need to be sensitive to the fact that having one’s background or identity depicted as a costume can be viewed as disrespectful.
Elk Island Public Schools is committed to providing a welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning and working environments. It is important that celebrations being held at our schools can be enjoyed by everyone - please help us ensure Halloween is fun for all our students! If you have any questions about whether a costume would be appropriate, please contact the school.
We are looking forward to a Spooktacular day!
October 31 - Snake Parade
On Wednesday, October 30, our Kindergarten Group A class will tour the school and show off their costumes as they celebrate Halloween a day early at school.
On Thursday, October 31 at 1:15 p.m. we will kick off our Halloween celebrations with a snake parade. Students will wander throughout the school picking up other classes along the way. Families are welcome to line our hallways to watch the snake parade. Following the parade, students will return to their classrooms to participate in a variety of Halloween themed activities.
Hot Lunch
The Woodbridge Parent Association and team of dedicated volunteers help coordinate and run our Hot Lunch program. All Hot Lunch orders will be communicated to families via the school weekly newsletter and on the school's website. Orders can be placed using the Munch-a-lunch platform.
We are always looking for volunteers to help and generally need about 12 volunteers for an hour for each Hot Lunch. It is a great way to help out in the school. If you are interested, please can sign up here.
Please review the FAQ document for setup info. If you have any additional questions please email wbfpa.hotlunch@gmail.com.
