A Message From The Principal
Dear Christ the King School Families,
With the many challenges of this past week, I hope everyone is able to rest, recover, and recharge during this long weekend. A few highlights from this past week:
Holy Mass was offered by Bishop McDermott and hosted by the 3rd Grade class;
5th Grade class trip to STARBASE (thank you, Mrs. Gillis and all volunteers/chaperones);
And so much learning in the classrooms (thank you to all teachers!)
Coming soon:
Golf Tournament on October 11th (pictures and info will be placed in the next issue)
Grandparents and Special Friends Day on Friday, October 18th, with Mass being hosted by the 8th Grade
Book Fair - October 14th - October 20th
And sooooo much more!
Additionally, I am providing everyone with a link to the Chapter 11 announcement that Bishop McDermott recently shared with the public https://www.vermontcatholic.org/reorganization/. If anyone wants to talk with someone and is unsatisfied with the information, please contact the Bishop’s Office directly. An FAQ will be available and will be updated frequently.
Again, please enjoy the weekend and all the pictures (thank you, Mr. Hughes!). As always, please feel free to email, call, or stop by to chat with me at any time (I will be at the school almost every day).
In Christ,
Kelley Alderman
CKS Principal

Mass will be followed by a reception in the school gymnasium, visits to classrooms, student performances, our Book Fair, and a family photo opportunity. We hope you can join us, but if you can't please know that you will be in our prayers!
Please RSVP to our Grandparents and Special Friends Mass and Celebration HERE.
The Mass is likely to be crowded, and some may not feel comfortable, so on the RSVP form there is the option to attend only the reception and classroom visits.

WAIT UNTIL 8TH TECHNOLOGY PLEDGE
80% of the CKS First Grade class, as well as several parents in a few other grades, have recently signed the Wait Until 8th pledge. This pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving their children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. By banding together, this will decrease the pressure felt by kids and parents alike over kids' having a smartphone. There are so many reasons to wait! (Please note: This pledge is for smartphones only -- if you plan on buying your child a basic phone that just calls and texts but avoids many of the potential distractions and dangers of the smartphone, you can still sign the pledge!). Will you join us? To learn more and sign the pledge, please visit www.waituntil8th.org or check out their Instagram account. I encourage class parents to reach out to their individual classes to encourage them to reach the same 80% goal that First Grade attained. Please feel free to contact 1st Grade parent Caitlin Studdard (caitlinstuddard@gmail.com) if you have questions or want to learn more!
