IMPORTANT-School Uniforms-PLEASE READ.
Parents, we need your help as the weather gets warm. Students must wear a school uniform and school appropriate shoes every day. We ask that students wear school appropriate shoes to prevent slips and falls. Crocs and other open back shoes should not be worn to school. As frustrating as it is for parents to receive uniform related phone calls, it is just as daunting for us to make them. However, if we continue to work together, this is one issue that I believe is fairly easy to resolve.
As a parent, I understand that the pre-teen/teen years are difficult, therefore, as a conversation starter with your child, perhaps you can try explaining that they will likely have to follow clothing related guidelines for many many years. They might not always like them, but the guidelines are in place to keep everyone safe and to maintain a positive environment.
If you need assistance with school uniforms, please call the school (708-458-7590).
Mrs. Malone

PARENTS, TAKE THE SURVEY TO HELP HMS!
5Essentials Survey
Dear Parent,
This is a reminder to participate in the parent survey supplement, part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only present aggregated information of how parents and students responded as a whole.
A parent survey report will be generated if at least 20 percent of parents/guardians respond to the survey. While the parent data will not be made public, the parent report will be made available to Mrs. Malone and Dr. Whalen and will enable them to make considerations based on the responses given by HMS parents/guardians. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your childβs school and guide improvement. Again, your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
Please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to take the parent survey.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact UChicago Impact Survey Support at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
Sincerely,
Mrs. P. Malone
Let's hope the spring season brings us a decline in cold/flu/strep cases! Keep practicing good hand hygiene, it is the most important way to prevent the spread of viruses and communicable diseases!
- The Loyola mobile van will be at Graves/HMS on April 9th, 2024. All appointments are booked! Thank you to the families who signed up! The van will return in September. Stay tuned for more information!
βOnce a week, take a peekβ Please perform weekly hair checks to prevent a lice outbreak in your home.
Current 6th grade students are required to have a State of IL dental exam on file. Dental forms are due May 15th.
This is a great time to schedule summer doctor appointments. Please note action plans and medication authorization forms are to be updated and submitted every school year!
IESA sports physicals are required for student athletes. They are to be updated annually as they are valid for 365 days. Sports physicals should be submitted to the athletic department.
