Welcome our new student teacher Miss Hurley to PE!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Ginny Hurley, and I am excited to be a student teacher for your child’s PE class this semester. I am completing my bachelor's in K-12 PE and Health at Boise State University. I am lucky to work with your children while learning from Mrs. Barber at Hillsdale Elementary.
A little about me: I have always loved being active, and doing anything sport-related has been an outlet for me. I want to share that passion of being active by working with kids. As a teacher, I aim to instill a love for being active, develop motor skills, and help kids understand the importance of teamwork and leading a healthy life. Along with going to school, I also have experience in volunteer coaching 8th-grade softball and currently high school softball, which reminds me every day why I have chosen this path to teach and engage with kids in fun, positive ways that make a difference.
As a student teacher, my role will be to learn from Mrs. Barber so that I can slowly start teaching lessons and eventually teach all classes. I will work directly with the students and have already begun getting to know each kid here at Hillsdale. I will be here for eight weeks and have opportunities to lead classes under Mrs. Barber's supervision and observation. After that, I will move on to the high school level and have a chance to teach at Mountain View High School as a student to finish off my semester.
My hope for this semester is to create positive learning experiences for your children in PE and learn from them so that I can be the best teacher I can be. My goal is for each student to leave our classes with more self-confidence in their abilities, a love for PE, and the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to reach out to me through my email: ginnyhurley@u.boisestate.edu or contact Mrs. Barber at barber.julie@westada.org
Thank you for your time and for allowing me to learn from your children. I look forward to this opportunity to get to know your kids and help them grow!
Thank you again,
Ginny Hurley

Caught You Being A Heron!
Each day, Hillsdale staff are looking for students who exhibit HERON traits to give them a Caught You Being a Heron ticket. Students then put the ticket in their grade level jar by the main entryway. Two students' names will be drawn each week per grade level and read over the announcements for prizes from our Treasure Chest. Each month a K-2nd and 3rd-5th grade student will be drawn to receive a monthly prize!
We want to acknowledge all the great HERON traits we see in our students throughout the day!
