From Our Librarian
- From our Librarian, Mrs. Jackson: I hope everyone enjoyed our first bookfair of the year! The Scholastic Bookfair will be here in March, so more fun is coming our way. A portion of our total sales from Literati will go directly back to the library to further support our students with books and materials. This big event would not have been possible without our AMAZING PTO and parent volunteers who helped out! Thank you so much for your time, your help, and your smiles! Please do not be alarmed if you are receiving automated "overdue" emails from our library management system. Classes have not come to library for 2 weeks due to the bookfair, and it is okay that your children still have their books. Once classes get back on their regular schedule for the upcoming week, we will get those "overdue" books back in. If you have any concerns, please let me know by emailing me at jjackson5@kleinisd.net

- Please avoid driving around other vehicles that are waiting for students to exit. Patience is crucial for ensuring a safe and efficient drop-off, as our staff are not only helping students enter the building but also ensuring that our teachers can arrive safely through the parking lot.
- Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for all our Bengal students and staff!
- Student safety is a priority. During our dismissal process, our main objective is to ensure all students arrive home safely. Please refer to the image above to be aware of the flow of traffic during for car riders.
- Parents and guardians will receive a designated number (see sample to the right) assigned by the campus. This number must be prominently displayed in the car's front window during pick-up times. As a result, our staff can quickly identify and match the correct student with the corresponding vehicle. This method will significantly reduce the time spent searching for students and alleviate congestion in the pick-up area.
- All parents who pick up students that are "Car Riders" must have an official Bernshausen Elementary car rider tag.
- Please note, parents in the car rider line without a car rider tag will be asked to kindly park their vehicle in the visitor's parking lot and visit our front office to pick up their student. Back to School Tips for Families
HERE are also some tips that can help with separation anxiety. Thank you for your efforts!
Help them learn to say their full name when someone asks them (not their nickname).
Read books every night. Their world will be enlarged, they will develop new vocabulary, and they will benefit from quality time.
Help them learn to ask for help.
Help them learn how to compete a task and work all the way through until they complete it.
Help them learn how to wait patiently. Maybe they are waiting in line while friends go to the bathroom, or maybe someone is needing to talk to their teacher. Waiting can be a hard thing for children.
Eat dinner together, with the tv off.
Help them learn to share.
Help them sharpen taking care of their basic needs by themselves - using the bathroom, washing their hands, blowing their nose.
Help them understand the concept of being told "no".
Teach them nursery rhymes. There is so much research behind this and how it supports brain development.
Help them understand it is ok to make mistakes.
Help them practice putting things in and taking things out of their backpack. Their teacher will thank you!
Help them learn to follow two step directions. For example, “Take off your shoes and hang up your jacket.”
Help them learn to sit and wait without having to be entertained. Can they sit and wait without having to be handed a device?
They will learn about table manners, how to stay in their seat an entire meal, develop vocabulary through conversation, and benefit from quality time.
