Nominees for National Youth Leadership Forum in STEM
Congratulations to the nominees from Mrs. Melling's Science class for the National Youth Leadership Forum in STEM. The following students have been selected to represent Fishers Jr. High School in Chicago this summer. These students may elect to attend this hands-on experience in the STEM industry, including guided field studies with a former NASA astronaut, building a Mars rover, learning medical techniques with Stanford's ER professors, and utilizing VEX EDR robots. These students demonstrated an interest and aptitude in science. Congratulations to Carter Smith, Allison Svilinov, Xavier Day, Eli Morrisey, Zuva Gurnell, Aiden Mustafa, Nick Leitze, Valerie Beeks, Ali Sanchez-Bravo, and Ani Ramjee.
Author Visit at FJH
Author Lisa Fipps will be visiting FJH on March 22, 2022, during BEST to discuss her award-winning debut novel STARFISH. Interested students should fill out the interest form available in the library or with the QR code on the flyer. Students may order a copy of her book through the FJH Writing Club. Calling all 7th & 8th grade girls! Try a new sport this fall with Mudsock Youth Rugby. The league is looking for females, specifically in this age group, who want to learn to play under a quality coaching staff. Practices will take place 2 times a week with games on Sunday afternoons.
