A Note From the Principal
Dear Mount Horeb Area School District Families,
As has become a tradition at the ELC/PC over the years, we will end our school year with an ELC/PC Assembly starting at 8:45AM in the PC gym on Thursday, June 6. We will be celebrating the end of a FANTASTIC school year with music, a skit, songs, and a tribute to our graduating second graders. Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us. (Program guests will be able to enter the building starting at 8:30AM). Thank you for helping us make the 2023-2024 school year such a huge success!
Sincerely,
Rachael Johnson, K-2 Principal
Library News
ALL library books and materials are due back to the library. Please return them as soon as possible. We have several items still out.
This is a great time to think about joining the Mount Horeb Library Summer Reading Program. Registration starts on June 3. This program allows students to complete challenges designed for each age level to earn Greenbucks to use at the SLP prize store. Another great summer activity is coding. This Hour of Code website has a wide variety of activities to choose from.
A website you may want to bookmark for the summer is our ELC Library Website or our PC Library Website. There are links to many read alouds, coding games, popular author/illustrator websites, and Pebblego which is a searchable database that includes 5 modules covering a variety of research topics, such as animals, science, biographies, health, and social studies.

School Social Worker News
I am having a baby this summer and will be on maternity leave (tentatively) the last week of this school year, and also in September. For the social-emotional and mental health needs of your student, please contact the main office, and they can connect you with support.
For assistance with basic needs, you may contact one of the other school social workers (Emily McGonigle: 608-437-7123 or Diane Morovits: 608-437-7175). You may also want to refer to our district community resource guide.
Looking for free things to do with your child this summer? Check out this list, or follow the Mount Horeb Public Library for something more local!
Thank you,
Megan Handrick
PTO News
Our K-5 PTO looks forward to our upcoming share day at Icki Sticki! We will receive a portion of the proceeds on Thursday, June 6th. Stop by for a last-day treat between 11 AM and 8 PM!
We would also like to thank you all for supporting us this year! Due to your generosity, we were able to give so much back to our schools. With the help of local businesses, we stocked snack boxes, provided thousands of dollars in funds to our K-5 classes, helped create beautiful learning spaces in the halls and the IC, helped fund picnic tables at the PC, and pampered our staff. We couldn't have done it without your support!
We are excited for next year's events and fundraisers!
The 1st Grade Zoo Field Trip Was A Hit!
The entire first grade went to Henry Vilas Zoo on Tuesday, May 21st. Every student and chaperone also got to ride the Carousel thanks to our Mount Horeb K-5 PTO. It was a nice donation to the Zoo and so much fun for our kids and adults.
