Principal's Message
May is such a wonderful time for educators! We see the fruits of our labors and have the opportunity to celebrate a wonderful time of growth with our students.
This month we recognize Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Jewish American Heritage Month and we take the time to remember the services of men and women who have given their lives for freedom and our country on Memorial Day, May 27.
We are also in our second week of CAASPP testing and you can help by ensuring that your student eat breakfast(our school serves breakfast at no cost at 7:30) and is at school everyday on time with a fully charged device .
CAASPP-California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress
State Testing - Spring 2024
Each spring, students in grades three through eight participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
This year, your child will take the following test(s) between May 6th- May 17th:
Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment in English language arts/literacy
Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment in mathematics
Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment in science (grades 5&8 only)
The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments are online tests that measure what students know and is able to do. The tests include many different types of questions that allow students to interact with the test questions. Results help identify gaps in knowledge or skills early on so your child can get the support he or she needs to be successful in school.
To learn more about either the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments or the CAST, go to the California Department of Education Parent Guides to Understanding Web page at https://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp.
You can look at sample test questions on the practice tests, which
can be found on the CAASPP Web Portal at http://www.caaspp.org/practice-and-training/index.html.

Student Safety 1st During Drop-Off and Pick-Up
When picking up and dropping off your students at school, ideally, we would ask that you park on a side street or in the school parking lot and walk your student to a school entrance.
Front Bus Zone: If you must drop off or pick up your student at the front of the school, please pull forward as far as possible to prevent a traffic jams. DO NOT park at the front curb as it is only for drop off and pick up and bus zone. You will be sited if you leave your car unattended.
Rear Parking Lot: If you drop off or pick up students at the side gate of the rear parking lot, please stay to the right, nearest the yellow line at the fence. Staying to the right will allow other vehicles to exit around those vehicles still waiting for their student(s).
Lillian Drive Gate: There is a gate at the rear of the Bard playground, which is available for student pick-up or drop-off. The gate at the Lillian Drive cul de sacs are staffed during pick-up and drop-off times and are significantly less crowded. The Lillian Drive gate is an excellent pick-up and drop-off area alternative.
Thank you for your cooperation!
