Class of 2024 Info:
Parent/Guardian Info Session -- College Application Process
Student Services Counselors are hosting an Info Session on the College Application Process for Parents/Guardians on Thursday, 9/7/23 promptly at 5:30PM in the CBW Auditorium, just prior to Back to School Night (which starts at 6:30pm). We will review the basics of the students’ application process, including the Common Application, requesting transcripts and recommendations in Naviance, and more. Before attending, it would be helpful for families to familiarize themselves with the College Application Process website. You may even print out the College Packet and bring it with you to the Session to take notes if desired. Your students will be given this packet at the Student Workshop (see below).
Student Workshops– College Application Process
All Seniors who plan to apply to college this year should attend College Application Process Workshops which will be held during Lunch & Learn, during the first 2 weeks of school. These workshops will review all aspects of the application process and review the steps students need to take to allow them to request transcripts and letters of recommendation through Naviance. Students will receive a College Packet, with step-by-step instructions, and there will be time for Q&A. Specifics about times/locations of these Workshops will be sent to students via email and Canvas announcements.
Class of 2024
College Admissions Exams
During 11th grade, students should plan on taking either the SAT or ACT after they have completed Algebra 2. This will ensure they see the Math content that will be on these exams. The SAT/ACT are separate from the PSAT in October, which is a practice exam for the SAT. These organizations are independent from Central Bucks; registration for the SAT/ACT is directly through the organization’s website (listed below).
SAT Registration: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration
ACT Registration: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html
PSAT Registration for 10th and 11th grade students:
The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered to 10th and 11th grade students on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. Current 9th and 10th grade students should register soon. Visit the West high school testing page for complete ordering information and details about this upcoming exam:
Central Bucks West Testing Page.
The window for 10th & 11th grade families to register on My Payments Plus (MPP) will be open from Friday, May 26th until Sunday, September 10th.
This Fall, the PSAT is moving to a digital format. Students will be using their district laptops with a downloaded College Board app. The College Board has provided a Frequently Asked Questions page to help everyone understand the digital format, and practice resources for this digital format will be available to students in late June, 2023.
The College Board has also changed how PSAT registrations are processed, so late registrations are no longer possible. The registration window will open on the MPP website starting Friday, May 26th, and remain open during the summer, so all who register will be guaranteed an exam; however, seats for this exam will not be sold after the registration window closes on September 10th, 2023.
If your student plans on using accommodations associated with a 504/IEP, the appropriate paperwork must be submitted to the College Board before August 21st, 2023. Please contact your IEP Case Manager regarding your student’s testing status.
AP Exams:
Students will join their AP classes with their teachers. On Tuesday, September 12th, the My Payments Plus System will open for all fall semester and full year AP exams. Students must go to My Payments Plus (set up an account if you don’t already have one) to register and pay for any fall or full year AP exam that they wish to take in May of 2024. The MPP system will remain open for registration and payment of fall and full year exams until October 30th, 2023.

Laptop Breakage Information
Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
Parents of Student Drivers
Our goal each day is make sure that all students, faculty, buses, and drivers exit our school campus safely. To ensure that safety, we are requesting that you please reinforce safe driving habits with your student driver. There have been several vehicle accidents that may have been prevented through safer driving practices.
- Drivers should maintain a speed of 15 MPH or less while driving on MacFarlane and in the school zone area.
- Drivers are to stop for pedestrians entering the crossing areas.
- Drivers are not to change lanes on MacFarlane
- Drivers should not be using electronic devices while driving.
- Drivers/Students should not be yelling from one vehicle to the next or getting out of one vehicle to get in another.
- Please try to limit the number of passengers in the car with your student. This will assist in being more attentive while driving.
Thank you for your assistance !
