RAMS Raider's Den for Dec 12, 2024

Dear Roseville Area Middle School Families,

As we approach the final week before Winter Break, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the hard work and dedication from both our students and staff. While we remain focused on maintaining rigorous learning during these final days, we also want to make sure we continue to find joy in the process of learning and growing together.

This week, our staff came together for a staff meeting and had a little fun playing a game of "Heads Up, 7-Up"—a lighthearted moment that helped us connect and laugh together. It’s important for us to remember that, while we are committed to high standards of learning, taking time for joy and laughter helps create a positive environment for everyone. As we move through this week, we encourage all of our students and staff to find those moments of connection and fun.

I also want to remind you that tomorrow, December 13, your student’s Trimester 1 report card will be handed to them in STAR. In addition you will be available to find them online. You can view your child’s grades and progress by following the directions provided in the section on Trimester 1 grades. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our school's First Tech Challenge robotics team, #14091 Roseville Raiders Robotics, dove headfirst "Into the Deep" on Saturday, November 23rd, in Prior Lake! Facing off against 27 other teams, our students navigated the challenges with impressive skill and determination, ultimately securing a commendable 12th place finish.

Throughout the day, the team demonstrated incredible dedication, constantly working to improve their robot's performance. This commitment to excellence didn't go unnoticed! Team members nominated their coach, Anthony Larson, for the prestigious Compass Award, which recognizes outstanding mentors in FTC. We're thrilled to share that Mr. Larson won the award – a testament to his exceptional guidance and support. Congratulations, Mr. Larson!

The team is already fine-tuning their robot for their next competition at Irondale High School in New Brighton on December 14th. Let's wish them the best of luck!

Students will receive their Trimester 1 report cards in STAR on Friday. Please take a moment to review your child's progress and celebrate their achievements. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the report, feel free to contact your child's teachers.

Families:

Please be sure to give the front office notice either via a phone call, a note or the ramsattendance@isd623.org attendance email if your student will be absent or if you will be picking up your student early so we can be prepared for your student to leave with you. This way you will not have to come into the building and your student will be ready to leave in the front office when you arrive. Your student can sign themselves out on the iPad on the front desk and come right out to your vehicle.

Students who are also feeling ill should go to the Health Office first before calling home. Once they are seen by Nurse Tighe and if it is determined that they should head home the Health Office will reach out to home to secure a ride. Students should not call home from their cell phones to be picked up if they are not feeling well.

Do you have young children? Do you know a friend or family member that does? Registration has now started for our next session of Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes! ECFE supports the growth and learning of caregivers and children together, as the classes and resources equip parents with beneficial tools for raising their child. We offer classes for caregivers and children ages birth to 5 years! Class fees are determined with a sliding scale, and we also offer FREE classes.

It's not too late to register yourself or your child for winter swim lessons with Roseville Community Education! We have a variety of classes with spots still open. Swim lessons help teach important water safety skills that are beneficial for all ages. Learning to swim also opens the door to a lifetime of fun at your local lake, pool, or waterpark! Choose from:

Calling all young princes and princesses! Come visit with your favorite lily pad princess from New Orleans and golden-haired tower princess! Enjoy character performances, character-led activities, dancing, sing-alongs, photo opportunities, a craft, and an afternoon of fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult participant. Children are welcome to wear their favorite fairytale costume!
