A Message From the Principals
Dear Barrington Families,
We’ve wrapped up another wonderful week filled with learning, laughter, and the beautiful colors of fall all around us! Students have been hard at work in their classrooms, exploring new ideas and building friendships along the way. As we look forward to next week, we are so excited to welcome our annual Fall Parade and Fall Parties! It’s always a joy to see the students’ creativity on display and to share in the festive spirit of the season.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make these special traditions possible. We hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

Building News:
Tree Removal and Replacement
Three trees on the Barrington property are in poor condition and will be removed this weekend as a safety precaution. One of the trees is dedicated to a former Barrington teacher, Joetta Beaver. We have been in touch with Ms. Beaver, who was very understanding of the situation. She is aware that a replacement tree will be planted soon, and her dedication plaque will be moved to that location. Two other replacement trees will also be planted on property in the coming months.
Halloween Candy Collection
Student Council will be collecting leftover Halloween candy in each neighborhood after trick-or-treating. The candy will be packed into small goodie bags and donated to various food pantries, shelters, and nonprofits. Last year, we collected over 1,000 pounds of candy, and we're excited to see what we can do this year!
Coat Drive
Student Council and PTO are partnering for our annual coat drive to support Capital City Helping Hands. Donations will be accepted in the Breezeway from 11/11 to 11/22. The coats and warm clothing will go to Capital City Helping Hands, which works directly with Columbus City Schools.
Reading Improvement Monitoring Plans (RIMPs)
At your recent conference, it might have been shared with you that your child will be on a Reading Improvement Monitoring Plan (RIMP) this school year. Those plans will begin coming home soon in student backpacks. Each plan will include two copies—one for you to keep and one to sign and return. Please return the signed copy by November 1st.
School Pictures Are Ready!
School pictures are now available to view on the HR Imaging website. Hard copies of photos will be coming home with students soon. If your child missed picture day or you'd like retakes, our Picture Retake Day is scheduled for November 1st.
Background Check Requirement for Field Trip Volunteers
We are so grateful for the many wonderful parents and guardians who generously volunteer their time to support our students, especially during field trips. Your involvement truly enhances the experiences we’re able to offer!
As a reminder, district policy requires all parent volunteers attending field trips to complete a background check. This helps ensure the safety and well-being of our students. Background checks can be completed at Mincy (1619 Zollinger Road) from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Please note that they are closed for lunch from 12:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
If you plan to volunteer on an upcoming field trip and haven't completed your background check yet, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Volunteers will not be permitted to attend the field trip without this background check completed. Thank you again for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We truly appreciate you!
Harvest Parade and Party
Join us for our annual Harvest Parade on Thursday, October 31st at 1:30 PM, followed by classroom parties! Students will enjoy a day of fun with costumes, a festive parade, and celebrations.
Key Details:
- Parade: 1:30-2:00 PM (outside, weather permitting)
- Class Parties: 2:00-2:45 PM
For costume guidelines, parade routes, and more information, please click here.
We can't wait to celebrate with our Barrington community!
Safety Drills
We are going to complete a Safety Drill at Barrington Elementary School the week of Nov. 11th - Nov. 15th. We will work in cooperation with the Upper Arlington Schools Resource Officers, Upper Arlington Police Department and other safety officials to make the drill a success.
Prior to the drill, we will go over expectations for the safety drill during class. While students will know this is a drill, we take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously and this safety drill is an important step to establish a safe, respectful and caring environment in our building. We encourage you to speak to your students, that if they see something, that they should say something to a staff member, SRO, cook, custodian or other trusted adult. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for your support and helping us to make Barrington a safe and kind place to be.

Facilities Master Planning Phase Two Community Kickoff
Nearly 10 years ago, the Upper Arlington community began working together to plan for the future of our schools, leading to a new high school and all new or renovated elementary schools. Now, it’s time to come together again — to determine the best path forward for the aging middle schools and Burbank Early Childhood School. Join us for the community kickoff to phase two of facilities master planning:
Tuesday, October 29 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Jones Middle School, 2100 Arlington Avenue
- Wednesday, October 30 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Graf Center, 2020 Builders Place
Strategic plan update town hall meeting
Learn more about the strategic planning process by joining district leadership for a town hall meeting on Tuesday, November 19 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Upper Arlington High School. Attendees will hear a review of the research and work done to date and then break into smaller groups to learn about the steps planned to implement each strategy during the next five years.

Future Fans Partners with Barrington
Have you ever tried to explain football to a little kid? It's near impossible to make it make sense. That is all until ... Future Fans!
Future Fans is a Columbus-based brand that helps little kids become big football fans by embedding the rules of football into parallel games and activities (think a bean bag toss game for teaching downs). Life is about quality family time – and Future Fans Football is all about quality time with a kid learning and loving football. And then, best of all, you'll get to share that magical experience of what it's like to be a fan together!
They have a program for soccer fans too!
Future Fans is partnering with Barrington three ways this fall:
