HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI
22 November 2024
Week 6, Term 4
Principal's Message
Kia ora koutou,
I had such a fun day with our Year 8 students yesterday! Each year, we visit Rainbow’s End to celebrate their final year and journey at Hautapu School. The parent helpers, Whaea Annalise, and I were proud of the respect and sense of community they demonstrated.
This week, our Senior and Junior School students also participated in their Athletics Day. A big thank you to Mrs Barr and Mrs Hoebergen for planning such an enjoyable day for everyone. It was wonderful to catch up with many parents and whānau who joined us. We’re excited to take a team to the Cambridge Interschool Athletics event as well as the Waikato Full Primary School Athletics event next Friday.
The staff are also looking forward to meeting Aaron Kavanagh, our newly appointed Deputy Principal, next Tuesday. In case you missed the staffing announcement email sent a couple of weeks ago…
After a thorough selection process, the Hautapu Board and I were fortunate enough to review many high-quality applications for the Deputy Principal position, and we’re excited to announce the appointment of Aaron Kavanagh.
With years of experience in education, Aaron has taught predominantly senior students and has held various leadership responsibilities and portfolios. In the classroom, he embraces student voice, inquiry and digitally-innovative learning, designing his programme around practices that build students' skills and competencies for life-readiness. In the performing arts, Aaron has taken on roles from acting to directing, including writing and directing a Junior School Production in 2019 that showcased multimedia, drama, music, and student talent. As a lifelong learner, Aaron has travelled extensively around the world, fuelling his passion for history, culture and new experiences. Outside of work, he enjoys quality time with his wife and three children, family trips to their bach in Waihi Beach, outdoor adventures, tennis, and reading.
Currently the Deputy Principal and Year 6-8 teacher at Whitikahu School, Aaron brings a strong focus on community and inclusive leadership, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Hautapu School team.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Ngā mihi nui
