Portrait of a Graduate
Reminder! Our district is engaged in a Portrait of a Graduate project that involves input from staff, alumni, families, community members and students. The end goal is to align our efforts and embed key competencies that students will need for success in the future. As parents, please do not forget to consider taking this important survey that should take 10-15 minutes to complete. We hope to gather as many responses as possible by Friday 2/14/25. Some question numbers may appear out of order; this is for data collection purposes. Simply answer the questions as they appear in the survey. Thank you and we look forward to sharing our progress with you!

Game On Gavin!
Today we are asking you to help send strength and support to one of our own, Gavin Brady, a 9th grader student at PTHS, who has recently learned that his leukemia has returned. While in elementary school, Gavin was diagnosed with leukemia and battled it courageously with the support of his family and our community. Once again, we will rally around them with our support, strength and care. Gavin has shown incredible resilience, and we know he will continue to fight with the same courage and inspiring determination. As he begins his treatment journey once again, we want him to feel the love and encouragement of his Golden Panther family.
Pequannock Township High School is hosting a “Game On Gavin” fundraiser on February 21st at 7:00 pm when our Golden Panthers boys basketball team takes on the Roxbury Gaels in our final regular season home game. As he battles leukemia, Gavin continues to love basketball and watches the games regularly from home and in person when he can. We want him to know that his supporters in the Golden Panther community and beyond are teaming up with him in his fight. On Friday, February 21st we would like to have an "Orange Day" in the district. All fans who attend the game that night are encouraged to wear orange as we cheer for Gavin and the Golden Panthers. “Game On Gavin” T-shirts are available for pre-order at: https://hs.pequannock.org/students/game-on-gavin-shirts and will be available for sale at the gate. Donations will also be accepted at the door. All proceeds will go to support Gavin and his family during this time. Thank you for your compassion and support for Gavin and his family -- together we will help Gavin continue to be #pantherstrong!
Grade 3 Immigration Day 2/4/25
Third graders displayed what they learned about a country of their ancestry.
They also learned about other countries from parent volunteers.
Thanks to the families who sent in treats from other cultures for 3rd graders to try.

Valentine's Day Celebrations
If you are planning on sending in valentines on 2/14, please keep the following in mind:
** If your child is bringing any valentines, please make sure there are enough for the entire class.
** New this year: Please do not send in any valentines that include food. We have many children with different food allergies and it is just not possible to keep everyone safe by checking every single candy or treat that is sent in on that day.
** As with other holiday and birthday celebrations and as outlined in the student handbook, please do not send in goody bags for each student.
Food and goody bags will not be distributed if they are sent in. Thank you for your cooperation!

Nurse Corner
Important Health Information
GO RED for heart health. Students were invited to wear RED on Feb. 7th to show support for heart healthy living. Anyone that would like to donate for the Carol Cardoza Nurse Scholarship Fund which provides a scholarship for a PTHS senior going into nursing would be appreciated.
The winter has brought a variety of viruses to share. We have had norovirus, flu A, covid, common cold and a virus that presents with headache and then fever. Students have been reminded to wash hands with soap and water, not touch their eyes, nose or mouth with fingers and to block their coughs. Staying home for 24 hours passed a fever of 100.4, vomiting or diarrhea will help prevent the spread to others. Staying hydrated with water, eating foods rich in vitamin C and getting plenty of rest will help reduce susceptibility to any germs. Let's hope that February is a better month to be healthy!
Please continue to report symptoms when calling out your child sick. It is helpful to know what illnesses are in the building.
