A WORD FROM MR. GUY
Hello Wolf Pup parents!
Thank you to our PTA for providing snacks for all of our test takers these past four days. Kids were really excited to have so many wonderful choices. We will continue AK STAR testing next week for any students who missed a testing day. Our last day of make-up testing is Friday. The state requires us to have 95% of students complete the test, so we are hopeful we can get those few students that were sick or traveling done testing ASAP.
We have our first spring concert on Thursday April 18th for grades 3-5 at 2pm, with a 10am dress rehearsal. The following week on April 25th we will have the primary concert (K-2), also at 2 pm with a 10 am dress rehearsal.
Coming home next week will be the intent to return forms. These forms allow you, as the parents, to share what you feel are your child’s strengths and weaknesses. It also gives us a heads up if you are not intending to return to Woodriver next year. We typically start building rosters for next year near the end of April. However, with our current budget situations, we might see changes in the number of teachers we have available. Currently we are scheduled for 13 teachers, (one less than this year). If we lose more teachers we could be forced to have a larger number of split grade classrooms. Hopefully our state can provide us soon with the information we need to plan ahead.
WOLF PUPS IN ACTION
Students are LOVING these warmer temps, and an opportunity for some extra recess time after working hard on testing all week!

We have started a new, school-wide, positive behavior rewards and attendance program!
Students are recognized for acts of kindness, good deeds, and helpful and positive behavior. When a student is recognized as a "Pawsitive Pup" they will get a small prize, their name up on a bulletin board for a month, a mention in the weekly newsletter, and a call home from school staff to share the good news with their parents and caregivers. They will also win entry to an exclusive Wolf Pup Super Star themed party, thrown at the beginning of each month during their recess and lunch period!
Students that have perfect attendance for the quarter, with no absences or tardies, (Attendance H.E.R.O.'s) will get a certificate, their name up on a bulletin board for the quarter, and a mention in the weekly newsletter. They will also win entry to the exclusive Wolf Pup Super Star monthly party!
We are excited for this new way to celebrate our Wolf Pups, and to recognize them for their accomplishments! Stay tuned for more updates on our Pawsitive Pups and Attendance HERO's!
If you like the sound of this program, please us help fund it! We will need help purchasing the prizes and supplies for the parties. Please consider donating to the Donor's Choose project for it linked below!
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Greetings Wolfpups. Over the next several weeks we will be spotlighting a few of
Woodriver’s amazing staff members. Each staff member will be interviewed by Mr. Kinder's third
graders!
This week we proudly present one of our 4th/5th Grade Teachers, Mrs. Clark!
Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Clark, 4th and 5th Grade Teacher
Interviewed by Third Graders Adalyn, Nick, and Riley
Mrs. Clark has worked at Woodriver for over eight years.
Mrs. Clark enjoys watching students set a goal and meet that goal, especially in reading.
For example, she helps her students set reading goals and when they achieve their goals
they earn a pizza party.
Mrs. Clark decided to work in education because her mom was a teacher, and because of a
few amazing teachers that she had over the years as a child. Mrs. Clark’s mom, Mrs. Roth,
helped her with her work as a kid. Mrs. Roth was very patient with her and inspired her to
become a teacher.
Mrs. Clark’s hobbies include reading, cooking, embroidery, playing hockey, pushing myself
with exercise, and going to live concerts. Embroidery is a type of art where you sew thread
through fabric with a needle. You can add beads to the artwork. Mrs. Clark had two
uncles that played hockey for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her brother and her
best friend also played hockey. Mrs. Clark wanted to learn something new, so she started
playing hockey. She was voted the most improved player on her team.
Mrs. Clark wants to eat her weight in sushi. If she eats enough sushi she might become a
sumo wrestler for her next job.
Mrs. Clark wants Woodriver to know that even when she is not at work, she is always
talking to others about the students at Woodriver, and how awesome each and every one
of them are. Mrs. Clark loves Woodriver!
