Superintendent's Corner

June always brings a range of emotions, whether it is pure joy or sadness for the end of a school year, the beginning of summer, or new beginnings from graduation. It is also a time for reflection regarding what we have done and hope to accomplish.

For the NRESC, the 2023-2024 school year has been a smashing success, as we continue to offer exceptional solutions to specific educational challenges. From the eight (8) new school districts and charter schools which became part of the NRESC family this year, to the twenty-five (25) new service contracts established with existing or new members of the NRESC family, I continue to be proud of the efforts of our team.

For the students of the Commission, whether you attend one of our schools or programs, or you receive a wide array of potential services (busing, technology support, related services, etc.), thank you for letting us support your needs! We hope that we served you well!

The NRESC and the Woodland Park Public Schools are ecstatic to announce that they have entered into an agreement to provide before and after care services to preschool students at School #1 and Charles Olbon School. The NRESC is committed to providing the same high quality childcare services that it has provided for decades in other school districts such as Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, and Parsippany-Troy Hills.

• June 28: Summer Schedule/Hours Begin for NRESC Central Office, Hope, and Second Home. Please note that from Friday, June 28 through Friday, August 30, the NRESC Central Office is CLOSED every FRIDAY. Monday-Thursday hours during the summer are IN PERSON from 7:30am-4:00pm.

• July 8-August 30: Pompton Lakes Daycare Summer Camp
• June 26-July 25: Clifton Summer School
• July 1-July 29: Wayne Summer School
• June 27-August 1 (Monday-Thursday): Harrison Summer School
• July 4-5: NRESC Central Office and Second Home are CLOSED.
• July 19: Second Home PD (1/2 Day for Participants)
• August 16: Second Home PD (1/2 Day for Participants)
• August 28: New Staff Orientation (9:30am-11:30am at Central Office).
• September 3: NRESC Staff Convocation (To be held IN PERSON at Second Home, further details to follow)
• September 4: First Day of School for Students at Hope and Phoenix.
• September 24: Back-to-School Night for Hope, Phoenix, and Second Home (further details to follow).
